Which companies should I buy stocks from?

I have this project within the accounting class where we enjoy $30,000 (fake) to buy stocks from 5 different companies, and record gain or loss after 5 weeks. I don't want to lose money (although fake) and look resembling a complete loser. Which 5 companies are doing good right very soon? Which ones you advise me to buy stocks from?

Answers:
Try this company call CTLM. They are expected to go up big subsequent week, and at the very tiniest, they won't lose money.
Another stock I really like is TRFX--they are a stable company and bounce around 5 and 5.50, so see if you can find them at five and then hope they wind up your 5 weeks near 5.50
One word of advise--buy things that aren't 10,000 dollars a share and adjectives that because with with the sole purpose 30k you can't get intensely many shares of big companies. Try to stick near stuff under 40 bucks a share.
Now if you wanna' be really safe and sound and not make or lose money, later listen to the other peeps suggestions close to hotels, nike, etc.
If you wanna win on the other hand, try goin beside stuff that is impromptu. Every dork in your class is gonna whip Wal*Mart, adidas, etc. So try something new and origional!

Other Answers:
Soda companies are other doing good so I would run with Pepsi or Coke two big ones. Disney is usually a well brought-up one. Probably a major Hotel tie up like Holiday Inn or Hilton. Plus you can't do discouraging with sport companies similar to Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma, etc.

i would insist on that you do the choosing yourself, you won't learn anything if we pick them for you. so what if you come surrounded by last, at least possible you will learn a dear lesson in investing.

why be in motion to college if you don't want to learn? five weeks is not alot of time. travel to MSN Money and pick the stocks rated as 10's. (Stock Scouter)

Out of the 10's, perchance there will be one you know and resembling. Invest in that. 20% contained by each of five. Preferably not contained by the same industry. Good luck!!

How difficult/realistic is it to start a stall fund? Is within a minimum assets requirement?

Also, how would I go something like starting one, if I decided to budge ahead with it?

Answers:
I only want to clarify that there are MANY licenses/requirements, even if you own less than $25 Million within assets. The $25 Million threshold only applies to registration below the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Regardless of assets, you wuld still have to structure your company to be exempt from the Investment Company Act of 1940, and you would enjoy to apply for a Regulation D exemption from the Securities Act of 1933. If you want to raise more than $1Million lower than Reg D, you will also need an audit. Additionally, you must register at near the state securities commission in every state where on earth you offer securities (shares of your fund). If you hold less than $25 Million and as a consequence are exempt from federal Investment Adviser registration, you probably have to register as an Investment Adviser surrounded by each state where on earth you sell shares of your fund.

Disclaimer: This is not court advice. Consult next to a lawyer.

Other Answers:
You'll necessitate a licence, clients, and their money.
Source(s):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedge_fund#Regulation
according to the previous answer, if you read it you will see that under $25 million surrounded by assets still has no regulatory requirements that you be licensed. if you can elevate the cash, you can set up an description at a brokerage firm and trade to your hearts content. not sure how you would gain investors if you have no track diary or experience however.
Hedge funds are NOT mutual funds. There are mutual fund rules because anybody can get into a mutual fund.

Hedge funds are private pools of money for investments normally spread word of mouth. If three friends pool their money to buy stocks, they have in recent times created a hedge fund. If you own a school stock club where on earth you all verbs your money to buy the same stocks, it's a stall fund. If your parents give you money to invest surrounded by their retirement, that's a hedge fund.

If you are hammering the sp500 by 50% and decide to push in the daily for more clients, you better have the proper liscences or you will find yourself within prison. Now you are creating a mutual fund.

Hedge funds can have profoundly of money if the clients are rich, not because the guy has greatly of clients.

How most rich man hedge funds are created is you are unfolding your rich friend that you are making good money surrounded by the stock market and he say he wants you to bar some of his money. Then you tell your other rich friend that your first friend put some money down and you would approaching your second rich friend to join within. If you are doing well, your friends might convey theri friends and off it grows.

When a company buys naming rights to a stadium, is that usually a sign that their stock is going up or down?

Answers:
It's a sign (to me) that they think that to be precise the best and most imaginative opening that they can spend their marketing dollars.

Other Answers:
not necessarily either, they're only buying some advertisement space.

It's usually a sign that the company has some money to spend. It shouldn't be interpretted any way on the strength of the stock. It is a symbol of a doomed to failure business decision. There seem to be sentiment that as the facility or bowl etc gets mentioned that it is promotion. When there are so frequent good outlets for promotion dollars why take the haphazard on a stadium?

How do I inform my online broker to automatically provide my shares when they arrive at above a unshakable price?

Is there any path to place an order beside my online broker (Scottrade, if that helps) where they will automatically provide my shares if the stock rises above a certain price? I know they enjoy limit and stop instructions but those seem to be for protecting against losses on a stock, not for selling them automatically when they increase within value. Any thinking? Thanks.

Answers:
What you are looking for is a limit demand. Enter the order and it will ask you to specify your "limit" price.

A stop-loss can become any a market or stricture order to market once it's price is triggered.

Other Answers:
You would do this with any a stop-loss or with a control order. The stop-loss tell the broker to sell if the price go DOWN to that price and the limit demand tells the broker to flog if the price goes UP to that price.
