Here is something in the order of him

On Monday, media reports said Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates have been dethroned as the world's richest man by Ingvar Kamprad, founder of Swedish furniture giant IKEA.

An upcoming issue of Swedish business weekly Veckans Affarer estimates Kamprad's luxury at 400 billion kronor ($53 billion). Gates' worth is estimated at $40.7 billion. Veckans Affarer said it is incorrect to say that Kamprad owns the entire company, along next to all its stores. A USA Today report quoted a company spokesperson as truism that 'Ingvar Kamprad does not own IKEA as he has donated the concern to the Dutch Stichting INGKA Foundation surrounded by 1982.'

rediff.com decided to find out more around Mr Kamrad. A ready-reckoner to the Swede who may or may not be the planet's wealthiest individual.

Who is Ingvar Kamprad and why is he so rich?

Kamprad was born within 1926 in Smaland province within southern Sweden, where the time was frugal and the soil be poor. Today, he is known as the guy who founded the IKEA furniture tie up and who may have dislodged Bill Gates from his perch as the richest man surrounded by the world.

And what is IKEA?

IKEA is one the world's largest furniture and home furnishing chains, with outlets contained by 30 countries. IKEA is an acronym for the initials of its founder and of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, the farm and settlement, respectively, which is where Kamprad grew up.

Could IKEA's furniture business be worth more than Microsoft?

The company's turnover for 2003 touched 12,370 million euros (about $148 billion, excluding sale tax). Swedish Television said recently Kamprad is worth more or less $51.6 billion. Veckans Affarer, as we said above, believes he is worth a little more, just about $53 billion. Kamprad's rise is attributed to the weakening of the dollar against the Swedish kronor. So don't be surprised if a strong dollar pushes Gates pay for up to the numero uno position.

So how come so few people hold heard of Kamprad?

The man is a study contained by frugality. He travels economy, rides public transportation to avoid publicity, and maintain a low profile.

How big is IKEA?

190 stores in 30 countries, 85,000 team. And the revenues given above.

What makes IKEA special?

The founding principle trailing IKEA is to provide functional, well-designed furniture at prices that are accessible to as many ancestors as possible. In short, practical, easy to use, cheap furniture. It's the prehistoric story of volumes and lower prices making good.

How do they hold on to prices so low?

Simple. Reverse product creation. At IKEA, the designers first come up with a price for a product. Then they digit out the most efficient business process for the product. And last, they conceptualise a design that fits the price and the process, instead of the other bearing round, which tends to tie the price to product. In other words, at IKEA, the price make the product, not the other way around.

Microsoft is a recent phenomenon. How ancient is IKEA?

The company was founded on July 28, 1943. In 1951, the first IKEA record was published and distributed free (that continues to this day). But the first furniture showroom be opened simply in 1953 within Almhult, Sweden.

Where does IKEA source its furniture from?

Actually, all of the company's designs are inhouse. It started designing its furniture surrounded by 1955 and the first IKEA 'store' opened within the same city surrounded by 1958.

From Sweden to 30 countries is a pretty big deal.

Yes, but it took time. The first IKEA store outside Sweden open in Oslo, Norway, within 1963; outside Scandinavia, in Spreitenbach, Switzerland 10 years subsequently; the latest open in Thessaloniki, Greece, within 2001. But four years before that, at the distance from the ground of the dotcom boom, they went where on earth they didn't need a store -- online.

What's so special going on for IKEA products?

For one, they save space. Two, they are cheap -- largely due to the reality that they do away with unnecessary detail. For example, as they read out, will an expensive finish on the back of a shelf or below a table-top improve the function? You seize the idea.

Also, most IKEA products are DIY types -- you buy it, you steal it home, you put it together. Saves on having someone pushcart a dresser home. Also saves on have to buy a truck to lug it home!

Bill Gates or Donald Trump A man who has enjoyment, happiness and love within his life would be the richest man contained by the world. As the saying go money can't buy happiness agree to alone love :)

When an investor diversifies his/ her investment what is he/ she doing?

Question:

Answers:
lowering his/her risks to market volatility.

Other Answers:
idk
buying both low and lofty yields
Buys different different stocks from different companies or at least different kind from one company. So if one goes within the trash you don't lose everything.
When an investor diversifies they are spreading (decreasing) their risk. Not putting all their eggs contained by one basket, so to speak. Investors should diversify into different investment classes, such as stocks surrounded by different sectors, bonds, definite estate, CDs and money markets, etc.
Basically he / she is spreading the money they're investing contained by several different investments.

If you pile the money into just one investment, you risk loosing the bloody lot if it go ****-up.

If you spread the money over more than one investment, then if one go down the pan, you've still get a chance beside the others.
Imagine an investor has shares of Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Cadbury Schweppes.

If Sugar go up all three investments will move about down.

Imagine an investor has shares of General Motors, Ford and Toyota.

If Steel go up all three investments will move about down.

When your portfolio is too concentrated on the same industry you are taking more risk and this scheme you could lose a lot of money.

On the other foot if you hold

Pepsi, General Motoros and IBM your risk is a lot smaller number.

When you are buying or selling your investments to reduce risk you are diversifying.

I never see dividends surrounded by my 401K statements. What happen to the dividend salaried for the stocks within my 401K a/c?

Question:

Answers:
I'm assuming some or all of your 401(k) is invested within variable funds, those funds surrounded by turn own stocks, and you are referring to the dividends paid on those stocks.

When those dividends are received they are simply added to the fund, as are property gains on stocks the fund trades, where on earth they can be used to purchase more stocks or bonds or held as cash.

Those dividends increase the merit of your holdings in the fund.

Note that regardless of how the fund made its money (dividends, sunhat gains) all that income is taxable as uninteresting income to you when you withdraw money from the fund. It is not treated as dividends or property gains.

Other Answers:
I dont know :) seriously I don't

You don't OWN the stocks. the money is within a STOCK FUND that buys the stocks. In a 401(k) any dividends are just added to the set off. That assumes your plan allows you to invest in individual, dividend producing stocks. If you are invested surrounded by mutual funds those dividends go to the overall profit/loss of the fund.
Source(s):
I administer my company's plan.

If you are discussion about the dividends salaried by stocks held by the mutual funds you own, you will not see them. They are paid to the fund and influence the celebration of your fund. If you own actual shares of stock and not a mutual fund, then you may enjoy received them in the form of new shares (likely fractional shares) as part of a dividend reinvestment.

What will occur after brokerage is failled to settle after T+3?

Question:If i buy an order and do not settle the brokerage or go the order inside T+3, my remisier will sell it for me after T+3. If he vend the order at lower price compare to the buying price, who is going to set rotten the loss? Will i be responsible to set of the loss?

Answers:
It can be a little more complicated.

T+3 is simply a trade that settles "Regular way". Usually adjectives broker dealers require trades settle regular process (T+3) However, if a purchaser cannot pay for a trade by T+3 the Broker Dealer (on behalf of the purchaser/client) can request a 2 daylight extension!

Reg T (Regulation T) states that a trade should be paid for beforehand the fifth business of the purchase (T+5).

the Broker dealer executing the trade is not truly breaking any regulations until after the fifth day. Meaning if the client doesn't salary for a trade by T+5 the B/D is not in compliance beside the SEC. BD's usually wait until T+5 to go an unpaid position. Then they will look to the client to pay any losses.

some mutual funds and treasury positions settle T+1. Equities do not.

Other Answers:
you should find out why your trade hasn't settled surrounded by T+3. Why aren't you trading at T+1?

Anyway if the delay is related to an error on the fragment of the brokerage firm then they should discharge you the difference. If the delay is on your chunk then you will enjoy to take the loss.
Yes, the loss is yours because you poor to settle. By regulation they are required to sell to settle you reason. If the sale proceeds are insufficient, you are responsible for the go together.
