The problem we frontage is the suburbanization and de-centralization we've been doing since WWII. Most ancestors live in places where on earth they can't really get anywhere on a bicycle. Work and shopping, even the supermarket, is several miles away. I don't infer bicycles are the answer.
We might see a new colleagues of motor-scooters and small, efficient 3-wheeled vehicle for commuting and other 'personal' transportation. We are already seeing a revolution in scooters, beside larger engines making them suitable for longer distances at higher speeds. There hold been other 'experiments' approaching the BMW C1 and the Corbin Sparrow that might well be the shape of things to come.
But I have an idea that the biggest change will own to be public transportation. That's the thing to invest surrounded by, except it will probably have to be public investment.
