1. As far as i know, it is incorrect to subtract COGS from inventories. We adjectives know that COGS = Op Inv + Purch - Cl. inventory. Now if you subtract it from sum of slit and closing inventories it would sort of , distort the formula.
2. I would suggest you to find out the mart significance of produce sold. This can be done by multiplying the total sold next to the respective public sale values. Remember the mistake you be doing contained by FIFO method? By multplying public sale price and Dutch auction size, instead of cost? Do it presently. Here's what I surmise that you are trying to numeral out:
Beginning inventory + purchased inventory = climax symmetry + used inventory (COGS)
$59440+purchased inventory = $35440 + $45,000
Purchased inventory = 45000+(35440-59440)
Purchased inventory = $21,000
