What id is needed for cashing a check?
Answers: Depends on the state/province and where you're trying to cash it.
If the cheque's in your name, at your bank (where you have a chequing account), you won't need any ID.
If it's at a cheque cashing place, they usually ask for at least one type of government issued photo ID (driver's licence, passport, etc), and sometimes also one other type (birth certificate, SS/SIN card).
Mostly anytype of gov't issued, consisting of a license, permit, or an Identification Card. Employment Id's are good also.
