Why it is important to build relationships with suppliers and how to do so?
Answers: The supplier relationship is a very important one, they supply the business with the resources it needs to make revenue and continue doing business. If you are on good terms with suppliers, then you get your deliveries on time, you get good customer service, and if there is a problem, they will sort it straight away, without any need for questions.
A good relationship is hard to build up, but can be maintained by paying on time, being courteous and polite-after all, they're trying to run their own business as well-, leaving enough time between orders and delivery, and by small things, like offering them and their family discounts or sending them christmas cards/products, etc.
so they keep supplying you with goods and don't cut off supply if you mess them about.
So that you might get discounts/deals in future.
You do this in the same way you treat a woman,
Always pay for things when you need to and be polite even when they are screaming.
In the end you are dealing with people and if you treat them well they will value the relationship. They might go the extra mile for you at another time that will really help.
I always reply to a quote even if I am rejecting it and I tell them why so they don't feel miffed. I am always straight too: I never say I need it in 2 days when in fact its 4 to keep em hopping -eventually that will backfire and they will know I am a bull***er and then the trust is gone. I hate it when my clients try to be crafty like that and give false deadlines or spin a yarn to try to get a discount...I never ask for discounts either...only one of my own clients ever does that so I always quote her higher so I can come down a bit. Sometimes she forgets to ask for one and so she's got an inflated price.
