1099 accounting grill?
I am filling out a 1099 to dispense to an independent contractor. I filled out the top partially of the form for them and put the amount of income into box 7. Now, do I fill out the bottom partially twice for the one person or do I resign from the bottom blank since I cant cut the form in partially. Do I send the red copy contained by with my taxes or do I distribute it in presently to the IRS? I know I have to get hold of this to the independent contractor by the 31st. Can I hand deliver this or must it be mail?Answers: I answered this over in the duty forum, but my answer is the same as the other one, except that the nouns document is a _1096_, not a _W-3_.
Leave the rest of the form blank. You have to search out a W-3 which is the reporting form for the 1099 to the IRS. They will reject the 1099 without the W-3. You can deliver it or communication it. Go to irs.gov and download the 2007 Instructions for 1099's.
