Is it Internet is essential for business?

Answers: The quick answer is no. There are clearly types of business that do not 'need' an Internet presence to be successful. A local restaurant, for example, can survive with other forms of local advertising and a repeat customer base. Another example is a business that has a small known market, say a company supplying aeronautical parts to boeing and airbus - there are so few companies that you are targeting, you do not need the Internet presence.

However, the percentage of businesses for which it is essential is far greater today than it has ever been and I would guess that very few people consider starting a new business without at least a planned Internet presence.
Internet would be a useful tool for your business.
It could be your source of information. If you encounter problems or need some ideas with your business, you could ask help or research through the net. There are lots of forums that you could as ask help from and web sites and article sites of different categories that you could research from. You would be able to connect to people around the world with similar business of yours and ask advice and ideas with them.
Also, with the Internet you can post your ads and you could do your marketing.

(iii) insurance is desirable despite the premium being more expensive than the ‘expected’ loss;?

Answers: Basic economics here: if you can afford the loss, then why buy the insurance in the first place? Unless you intend to commit insurance fraud, there is no need for it. You not getting the insurance simply means that you'll be self-insured.
