Help . Management proposal needed on defending my position.?
I run the largest department in a household business of 30 employees. I'm bright to management and be given the opportunity to turn a very loss making department into something more professional. I own acheived that and more but it's been a TRUE learning curve beside little encouragement. However I find myself in a terribly depressing position of being asked to maintain why I made certain decision I made 2 or 3 weeks ago and I can't do it because I have no store and all my staff be flat out at work. Higher management are trying to variety out I am not deligating work correctly because jobs that effect them did not join their exact deadline. I am discouraged because I cannot defend my position and know that at the time the staff be doing higher priority work...I'm thinking I don`t know I should quit but if anyone out there have been through adjectives this childish finger pointing game.could you point me within the right direction to sort this problem out ?Thanks
Answers: Why not tell them that the information they want is affecting the profitability/efficiency of the department as you prioritise work as to it's need. Go on to the attack put the ball into their court but don't resign.
Andy you are so right beside the finger pointing .unfortunately its the method a lot of businesses are run currently in picky retail.
I would suggest that you stick to your guns and go something along these lines ..and ask for the following
Clear set down targets
Clear livelihood role and responsibility
Clear training programme for you (as you say you are topical to the role
As its a family business you may find that they want you out for other reason so no matter what you do you will not win ...
a short time ago stay clear and focused and when you are flat out take a step final and see what others are doing for you ..Challenge your colleagues both up and down the scale ..ask for support when you obligation it and never let consequently see that they are winning

Well, I wonder going on for the larger context of your predicament. You state your employment in the current position have been successfull. You are clear nearly when the issues arose and that there are a restricted number of them. But, then you state that 'fingerpointing' is going on. This perspective indicates the issue is personalised and top down. Your issues are not presented as monetary or developmentaly relevant. Identifying the context of the issues leads me to chew over you are engaged within personal and professional boundaries being crossed/mixed. This is an issue to be address through professional development and supervision. Without these structures afterwards this kind of 'restraint' is predictable to be ongoing and will be economically counterproductive on so many level. The best way to mangage the systems end is to share with your colleagues where on earth and how systems failure lead to lower production. It is not a question of specific issues but the resolution of incongruencies amongst work colleagues. Reframing the issue to colleagues will see you to implement further strategies leading to a more updated and productive work environment. If you leave, afterwards you have missed a great opportunity to increase your inter personal skills and their application. If the result is everyone hate you and thinks your a pompous push for pointing out system failures, after leaving is the best piece you could do for your own sanity! When a system no longer recognises and benefits from inherent strengths, after it will soon collapse.

I have worked for small line run businesses and been surrounded by the same position as you. You are wasting your time trying to keep yourself against these people because they nouns to me like amateur manager themselves and therefore they will not necessarily twig good direction practises.
My advice to you is find another employment whilst you are still in employment consequently leave them and never work for a familial run business again. Remember that blood is thicker than water - even impossible blood.

On a four week month, you'd make $1649.60 BEFORE TAXES! Altogether you will probably obtain about $1000 dependng on where on earth you live and if you have kids or are married.
