Don't buy a mac. If you need to accomplish multimedia presentations a mac is the last entry you should use. They are terrible for presentations and organization applications.
The best option for you would be to buy a copy of Windows XP and run that. It works without a flaw.
There's jobs everywhere, Fast food, Retail, Even Telemarketing, but you might own to be a certain age for that. Fast food really will hire anyone who can hoof it, Just go into a local Mcdonalds or burger king and ask for a Job App.

at 15, that maybe tough (the making a bunch of $$ efficiently part). I would suggest waiting tables, but don't know if you can at 15.
If you do find a living, and can afford it, I would suggest getting a MacBook. Great for multimedia functions. But make sure your projects are compatible near whatever you use at arts school.

1 - Vista has be reported to have trouble and not person that usefull at all, (this is relative) within your case - for studying - i regard as windows XP works without fault, i use it and i was once tempt to switch to vista, and after using it, i'd rather own XP, easier!
2 - My mom also told me that if i ever wanted to spend money on anywhting i needed, i'd have to find it myself. So i started working, and yeah at first it sucks, but after a while, you have your own money, you buy doesn`t matter what the hell u want, you hang out beside friends and have money, it's cool that you start earn your own money, cuz you control it. Makes you responsible.
Mac's arent exactly the cheapest on the market, so i'd recommed you work unyielding to get it.
There are some job out there but because of your age, I reckon most want older kids.
This could be a touch difficult but, if the weather is warm where on earth you are, you could do odd job around the neighborhood and set yourself a price range for the job.

I'm surprised your Mom doesn't realize that it is hard for a 15 year ripened to get work. However, if you live close to a precinct, you might be able to work at a Wendy's. I believe they hire as young-looking as 15. But wherever you work, they are going to ask how you will seize there. Be sure you hold an answer. And the transportation must be dependable.
Another thought might be instead of getting a new computer, thieve the one you have to a compentent repair place to see why it keep crashing. That could be cheaper than a new one. Mom might similar to this alternative.

Also, while a new macbook would be awesome, you may want to check out ebay and craigslist for used macbooks. There is not a HUGE difference between the most up-to-date macbooks and the oldest macbooks. (note, I didn't say powerbook or ibook. Stay contained by the macbook family and anything you catch will be pretty good)
If you do go foreign, check the Student or Educational discounts that Apple offers for purchases as in good health.
There is also the refurbished products in the online applestore as economically.
first of all, dump window vista it is the system from Gates hell hole .
go wager on to XP professional it is the only stable altered copy of windows that works after you shall have no problems next to you're system... why spend money on a new system when you hold no need to.. buy window XP Pro you can buy the OEM version cheap for around $130.00.
the mac will not be compatible near your school system.. plus macs are over rate and over priced

Then I looked up Wilmington DE and found 19801.
I go to www.ups.com and selected the "subtract time and cost" option from the shipping tab.
I enter the from and to zip codes beside a ship date of today. (Even if the shipper dropped it off yesterday, it wouldn't be picked up until today)
The cost calculator told me the transit time be 2 days and that you would get it by the wrap up of the day Wednesday.
