How picky is the USPS when weigh 1st class post? My correspondence weigh 28.8 grams?
So.I have 100+ correspondence to send out and they are weigh about .4g over an ounce. One $.41 stamp pays for one oz, and its $.17 respectively add'l oz.Sooo...will they let these packages slide or do I really need the extra postage?
Answers: Well, it is over an ounce. In my organization we will let slide anything explicitly less than .05 of an ounce over the bulk. If I did my math right ( and it's possible I didn't ) I get that it is .2 of an ounce over. That would be adequate to be considered short paid. Now as far as anyone catching it would be a crapshoot. They might and they might not. Just depends on how much you want to stake on it. It can depend on what city they are mailed from and going to. If it is mail in a central city and going to a major city after it will be totally automated. Then your chances of it not getting caught are better, if it is going to a smaller town it might be caught. (see answer below) If they are caught together next they may return all of them to you at that time. If some are caught individually they will put pen to paper them postage due and send it on next to the addresee having to take-home pay the additional postage. If they rebuff to pay next they would be returned to you. If you want to make sure they run through without any trouble after I would pay the $.17.
Very picky. Purchase 58c stamps to use on your packages, or figure out a means of access to reduce the immensity to 1 ounce or less.
You enjoy to consider that the envelopes are also going to be a bit thicker and those tend to stick out to the naked eye. In our department, the letter carrier do a bang up undertaking in finding Postage Dues.
