Answers: That's really going to depend on the idea.
You can definitely get paid but only in proportion to the usefulness of your idea. If it doesn't solve a problem or it solves a problem that no one is looking for then you most likely won't make anything.
However, if there are a million people who are really looking for a solution of how they can do X and the current products available just don't quite get it right, there may be opportunity for you.
you build a business plan that describes how to finance, produce, market, sell and protect the product.
then, if it looks like it is feasible or meets your goals, you do your best to accomplish the plan
