What is the accounting treatment for reimbursable expenses?
I work for a law firm. Often, the attorneys discharge in finance any costs they incur on behalf of a client (i.e. court parking fee, decriminalized research fees, court filing fees, etc.) and bill the client afterwards.I know that when clients reimburse the attorney, it's not considered income.
So what should the accounting entry for this transaction be similar to?
I was thinking...
DR Advanced Client Costs (Other Asset)
CR Cash (Current Asset)
To register expenditure of an atty on behalf of a client
Then...
DR Cash (Current Asset)
CR Advanced Client Costs (Other Asset)
To record settlement of client for a reimbursable expenditure.
Am I correct?
Answers: Yes, you could do it your way, except that I would possession it as Recoverable Client Costs. And don't forget to track the incurring of the costs and the recovering. You should be able to detail the attorneys what is sitting in the Advanced Client Costs details - broken down by client name and amt.
I would
Debit--- Cash Account
Credit--- Acount's Receivable
When the Client Pays.
Credit -Cash Account
Debit- Account's Receivable
Is at hand a bearing to stop getting unwanted items correspondence from the post bureau?
every week i get tons of second-hand goods mail (ads, coupons, and promotions.) who do i entail to talk or write to to go and get it to stop?Answers: There are a couple generic lists that you want to be on:
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/
https://www.dmachoice.org/MPS/
Anything that comes near your address actually written on it, is any covered by one of the above lists, or you want to contact the sender specifically and ask them to stop mailing you. You pretty much have need of to contact every organization you know or that know about you and notify them to not send you letters and to not sell or rent your first name to others.
If it's just address "Postal Customer" or "Resident" and doesn't actually include your address, they salaried the Post Office to deliver to every address on the route that you're on, so even if you contact the company sending it they can't take you stale the list.
If a mailer won't stop, imbue out Form 1500 and attach it to the mail and bring it to a Post Office or messages it to the address on the form. It's designed for offensive bits and pieces, and the courts have granted that *you* get to pick what's loathsome. I find a lot of my cast-offs mail to be lewd. The form is available at larger post offices and at http://www.usps.gov/.
Any post you get surrounded by the meantime, feel free to simply not adopt. Mark it "Refused" and give it put money on to the Postal Service. The Post Office ought to recycle it. See http://www.refuseyourmail.info/ for more information.
There are some online subscription services that try to automate this process somewhat and act as your agent within getting off of the list that you want to get rotten of, but they're usually not free. They may take smaller quantity time, though. I haven't really looked into them much.
Contact your state or federal representative to express your opinion. There is much conversation right now going on for 'do-not-mail' lists, at most minuscule in the U.S., that would be similar to 'do-not-call' list (meaning, of course, that politicians could still transport mail, of late like they can still ring you -- but no one else could, unless they already enjoy your consent or have a business relationship next to you).
Personally I am against 'do-not-mail', since the loss of revenue to USPS might force some kind of privatization of messages delivery; this could scrounging hardship for postal workers & rural citizens -- like ends on universal assignment.
But there is a honourable argument to be made for cutting the idle away of paper resources.
Also, most companies sending you catalogs will stop if you call upon them and request it.
No. I tried. It is impossible. The reason it is impossible is because adjectives the Junk Mail Mailer have the Post Office Employees trained. I signed up on the "Do No Mail" inventory for all the local second-hand goods mail mailers. Guess who's post I got? My Neighbors. The Mail delivery service never stopped to check if the junk e-mail was address to me they just stuffed it surrounded by my box.
On one occassion I actually caught the letters lady and explained to her that if you don't catch a little white card from influence the Penny Saver then you are not supposed to present me a Penny Saver. Of course right in my paw was a Penny Saver and no white Address slip. Her response " Ohh.. Tragedy."
I give up after that.
Need assistance beside an accounting problem!?
Not exactly sure how to do this. The cost of merchandise sold for Kohl's Corporation for a recent year was $8,639 million.
rationalization balances(in millions):
...... . .. End of year....Begin. of year
Merchandise Inventories. 2,238....1,947
Accounts Payable ... 830 ....705
Determine the amount of cash payments for merchandise.
Thanks!
Answers: Arrange the info you're given within formula form:
Beg. inventory 1,947
Add Purchases ?
Less COGS (8,639)
= End. inventory 2,238
Arranged like this, you will realise that purchases = 8,930
Now for the subsequent part. Again, arrange within formula form:
Beg. AP 705
Add Purchases 8,930
Less Payments ( ? )
= End. AP 830
You can easily find out that Payments = 8,805million.
Questions similar to this appear all the time, so know them.
I believe the answer is $8,805 million.
2238-1947+8639-(830-705)
But it's late and it's be years since I've had to look at any cost accounting question.
