Answers: You can give inFlow Inventory a try. It is hugely simple and easy to use. They enjoy a free edition that is free to use forever, but it limitations to 100 products and customers. Give it a try: http://www.inflowinventory.com
For color/size, you can create a new product for respectively color/size combo. So, say if you own sell a shirt near Red/Blue and S/M/L, you can have a product call "Shirt - R - S" (for red and small).
I think inFlow also hold a forum that can help answer your question:

Need more info.
You will necessitate a standard sheet of all the sizes that you take or will carry. This is to be used to thieve physical counts of sizes on hand. Missing sizes and low quantity will be reorderd on items to be maintained.
If you don't hold these sheets, one can be made and duplicated as needed.
I can't do that here.
How many sizes/lengths and widths do you take?
It's a complicated process to keep a perpetual inventory of sizes. It's not other accurate and counts must be taken.
I did this for multiple stores.
The other thing you requirement is a perpetual unit inventory for respectively item.
This will show Style, Stock Number, Manufacturer, Beg On Hand, Color, On Order, Received, Units sold, Ending Balance. Dates should be there somewhere.
This should be built to story every week on one spread sheet, and on another sheet, Total Month pulled from the weeks, and Total Year.
Styles and colors can be identified in several ways.
You may want a column for Cost, Freight, Total Cost, Retail Price. Maybe Returns to MFG. if that applies.
You should hold a column for Markdowns, at Retail Price reductions.
This may hold a bit of time to build. I could do it, but it may be cumbersome to use. I don't have plenty knowledge of VBA Excel Macros to breed it User Friendly.
I did build macros with a different program.

I work part-time for retailer, and they use a hand-held scanner that tell what's on-hand, how many surrounded by warehouse, how many on shelves, and how oodles to order. How that info is originally punched surrounded by.dunno. But when quantities are low, they get a pick list.and consequently go to warehouse and scanner will tootle when needed item is available...load onto pushcart and take it out. Sounds close to you need to do abundantly more research before investing. I'd recommend getting job at shoe stores to learn how it's done. Also look for books on small retail business regulation. (Amazon, or the library.) Good luck.
