Well right now, companies are launch to realize that changing demographics (e.g. more hispanics, newborn boom generation) are creating good marketing opportunity - both for new products and modern marketing messages/channels. Many companies are creating new groups to cram more about these and other emerging trends, and they are commissioning like mad of research and R&D funds to service these groups.
Over time, the changes will be more dramatic because companies will go and get wise & realize that they'll be most successful if they full incorporate these demographic groups into their companies.
In amalgamation, right now as the younger classmates (Gen Y) enters the workforce, they bring contained by more technology and higher expectations w/ that technology. That seem to be translating to workers being reachable anytime/anywhere (e.g. cell phones, blackberries, email). Interestingly, though, nearby also seems to be a backlash w/ this where on earth people are craving personal time & worklife go together. And, w/ Gen X, esp Gen X moms, we are seeing more flexibility in work hours/locations. E.g. tons working moms will only work 3-4 days/week and regularly 1-2 of those days will be at home (now that they can access things via email/internet & cell phone).

www.usgrants.gov, is a good place to look. The parliament gives grant for people similar to you looking for funding for some sort of research project.
First, figure out what issues you are most interested within programming. Then, if you already have 501(c)3 status (non-profit) you are set to set off looking for grant agencies whos funding guidelines game what you are trying to accomplish. If you don't, you will have a much harder time trying to find foundations that fund for profit businesses.
501(c)3 status isn't that complicated to accomplish. I personally founded Michigan's individual non-profit missing persons company. I did the 501(c)3 paperwork myself and now it's a fully celebrated organization and have been for almost 5 years.
