Historically the $ have been the strongest and most stable currency. Also the US have the largest GDP. I would expect it to go to the Euro surrounded by the future if current trends verbs. If there is going to be any money it will take some time.
The USD have been stable so it have always be used. I hear now that the Euro is one used more and can overtake the USD as world currency. It will take awhile beforehand it happens though.
