Accounting?

Question:
Does anyone know: When should a manager consider "taking a big bath"?
and: What adjustment needs to be made if one suspects that a company have taken a big bath?

Answer:
You clutch the big bath within accounting by dumping every possible bad piece (potential lawsuits, restructurings, extraordinary events etc) on the income statement in what be already a bad year, i.e. you get a bad result appear even worse. The belief behind it is that analysts won't formulate much of a difference between a 20% loss and a 30% loss - both are aweful results anyway, so why not get it out of the path and thereby artifically get an even better result subsequent time? (especially since next result will be compared to the current abysmal one, so it won't purloin much to look like you've better!) By correcting for an abnormal amount of extraordinary charges, prepaid expenses etc you can "normalize" the income statement.
Not deeply specific in your cross-question, so you will get a generic answer.

Big Bath.. You are referring to a loss...

Adjustments customarily would be to write-off the receivable for the loss.

Good Luck

Can an international student gain a CPA license?

Question:
I am thinking about studing accounting. My singular question is if an international student can grasp the CPA license? If I can, how would I do it?

Answer:
Yes. CPA licenses and similar license granted are granted all around the world, not a moment ago in the United States. To practice contained by the United States, however, you need to apply for the exam and show the appropriate registration requirements.

The license requirements vary from state to state, as they do from country to country. If you are a CPA from another country, resembling a friend of mine from Argentina, the U.S. may require you to go through adjectives the licensing requirements again, including retaking the CPA exam.

AICPA does adopt foreign applications, and when I took and passed the test contained by Seattle, more than half the 1,000 students contained by the room with me be from Asia. States will license almost anybody so long as they have passed the requirements for licensure.

Also, you do not involve the CPA license to practice accounting. The CPA license is primarily for AUDITING public corporations that operate in a specific state. Full Licensure grant you permission from the state you are licensed within to express an opinion on a company's audited financial statements. You do not entail to be a CPA to be a tax preparer or to be an accountant or officer surrounded by a corporation.

Is anyone looking forward to the unmarked dollar coin coming out? It is suppose to replace the dollar bill.?

Question:
Do you remember the disaster of the Susan B. Anthony dollar?

Answer:
The U.S. Mint IS hoping the new coins will be popular. Even though it costs more to mint a coin, they closing longer. The average coin lasts something resembling 10-15 years in circulation, while a one dollar bill with the sole purpose lasts 18 months.

Personally, I am curious to see the coins, but since bills are so much lighter, I'll use them more.
It's not supposed to replace the dollar bill. It's 'cashing in' on the nouns of the recently released State garrison, and it is hoped that the public will collect the coins with like interest.
The government have no intent for the new dollar coin to replace the dollar bill. In the first place, coinage is lots, many times more costly to mint than tabloid currency, and in the second place, the American public does not hold any desire to have their pockets full of jangle base-metal coins. The new presidential dollars will provide a flea market mainly to collectors.
We've have $1 and $2 coins for quite some time here surrounded by Canada. They are a nuisance and bulky surrounded by a coin purse!
no i do not like dollar coins, it will not replace dollar bills. The elected representatives has be trying since the late 1700s to use dollar coins and so far it have always spoilt.
Its another way for Gov to brand pure cash money...
Coins will be hoarded. Gov make a pile of dough off them.

No the coins will be a flop close to all others coins that tried to replace the great silver dollars. No junkie coins can.
Silver dollars be large and worth using.
These coins small-ugly and most inhabitants make mistakes giving alteration.

They won't replace the washington dollar bill.

Another goofy silly idea from washington...
Canada have them for a few years. The dollar coin is a loonie the two dollar coins are toonies The vending machine companies love them. Takes awhile to find used to...

Accounting and Finance?

Question:
For many analysts, what is the most crucial financial statement and why?

Answer:
It depends on the purpose of the analysis that you are doing and the user of the financial situation. If you are an investor, the Income Statement would probably be the most useful, as it shows the earn per share that the stockholder earned. If you are a creditor analyst, the Balance sheet is the best statement since it explains the financial situation of the company as of assets or colateral, and liability. The cash flow may be adjectives if you want to determine the liquidity of the company, which may be useful for other stakeholders of the company such as, human resources (for insuring their payroll), and clients (for insuring their warranty and future services).
Many analysts consider the bread flow statement really important because it's harder to rub than the income statement and balance sheet. Hence it might hand over you a better impression of whether the firm in truth has the money at paw to pay its investors and creditors, invest within the firm, etc.
To me the most important is one any rarely created or one I create myself: statement of bread flow.

If a business has suitable cash flow afterwards the business has what it wants to contune and possibly grow. Even with like mad of liquidity a business can only survive a controlled time if it is not generating brass.

When mail note to attorney do you?

Question:
use Atty after their name or use PC? What' the appropriate method to address them in a formal business memorandum?

John Doe Atty
John Doe PC
John Doe LLP

It's so confusingany help is appreciated.

Answer:
Depends, is this guy surrounded by a solo practice? If it's just him, consequently PC would work. If you're talking just about the John Doe firm, of which he's the head, consequently you could put LLP. If he's just a partner, you'd put the firm cross, and then on the subsequent line you'd put ATTN: John Doe. I've one-sidedly never used the Atty abreviation, so I wouldn't reccomend it.
look in the phone book, write it exactly as it appears
Usually, you inventory what is on their business card. But they don't mind if you don't use their title the first time. It will get to them. One more entry, make sure that you distribute things with a Return Receipt Requested. This means of access you know that the attorney's office have received. (Actually do that with any officially recognized document.)
I think if you address it

John Doe Esq
John Doe and Associates LLP
High Street
Anytown 12345

Mr Doe will be drastically happy. Most attorneys approaching being address as Esq. in much one and the same way medical doctors close to being address Dr. I know its an ego thing for some attorneys, but most ego-stroking is non-hazardous, don't you think?
John Doe Esq. is the proper style.
The attorneys that I work for don't really care as long as you are paying them!
