In the field I work contained by I've seen this lately also, and when the other company is bought out the records usually transferred over, unless you are no longer beside them and using someone else at the time they merge or are bought out, if you were next to them when they transferred over, call the modern company and demand to speak to someone difficult. If you werent with them next you are pretty much out of luck and out of that check.
Call the new company and explain it to them. If this is like type of business, then they could hold taken over the accts as well and it will show up. If not, contact the supervisor of the exotic company. They should have a contact information for the ancient conmpany as well. Good Luck!
