I would try to explain what happened to your boss! It is up to them what they judge, but make sure that they hold all of the facts back they make their finding! If you didn't take the money, enlighten them that, but also tell them that you did confer on another employee beside access to the wallet.
Your employer will most likely hold in the highest regard your honesty and being upfront beside them, but do expect that it is a possibility that they my not be too thrilled that you left another hand with access to the box!
