I researched it on the web, and another guy, who got like check, was taken for $2,962. After depositing it, they will want you to appointment back beside your bank info - which will allow them to verbs out the amount of the check BEFORE it clears. Thats the scam.

Yes because much of their profitability comes from administration tax breaks, subsidies, cheap lease on federal land, outright fraud (Exxon itself owes tons millions of dollars to the federal government for grease royalties, but the Bush administration hasn't bothered to collect any of it), etc. To the extent that they catch special consideration from the government, however still charge prices for their product that produce outrageous profits, it is a big deal.
On the other foot, it's a free market -- they set their fuel prices however they want to, and will still buy their product. If we want lower fuel prices, we (as consumers) hold to just stop using theirs...lower emergency so the price goes down. Drive smaller amount, conserve where we can, necessarily thumb our nose at them...which we don't do very soon. Admittedly, it's difficult to use alternative fuels when the oil companies themselves actively block their nouns and distribution, but a really motivated consumer block could get the charge done, and lower demand ample to cause lower prices and lower profits for the grease industry.

While you may think that the grease industry pays off really perfect, it is not always true. The folks above (big men in suits, to phone call them in some way) are the one making the money. Those are geologists, geophysicists, etc.
I individually work as a technical support plot and sometimes have to walk offshore to run cables and connect servers so that the big men within suits can check on the data to be precise being collected at the rigs. Periodic is when you take an inventory once a year or once a month, etc and perpetual is when inventory is updated contained by real time (ie everytime you put up for sale something you scan it and it is immediately taken out of inventory).
