Well, I shop around for cheap cuppliers, and my quarterly bill in recent times arrived, first 182 kWh cost 15.26p/kWh the remaining 424 cost 10.11p/kWh average cost over the 3 months is then 11.66p/kWh but there's 5% tariff to add giving an actual cost to me of 12.24p/kWh.
So, departing that Iron on for 1 hour would cost
2.4 x 12.24p = 29.4p
I don't think Phil can be right as to the rate. I'm beside Atlantic and it's about 12p per KWH. However an iron have a thermostat and does not draw the current all the time so it would be smaller amount than the full amount.
