In my view...
Common size is most useful when comparing one company to another (or one constituent of a company to another part inside the same company). I look at a great deal of financials, and I don't have much use for adjectives size - mainly because it's difficult to bring true apples to apples when comparing one company to another.
I suppose if one was comparing a bunch of different companies within the same industry, it could be adjectives for some limited comparisons - vote like GP %, EBITDA/sales, or doesn`t matter what is most meaningful within the industries you're looking at
