I haven't individually claimed bank charges hindmost from Abbey National, but some of the users of my site have.
The Abbey aren't the easiest dune to get refund for bank charges from, they drag their heels, but you can carry 100% of your charges back from them if you stick with (as you can from any bank!)
As for time, it depends how far the edge take it formerly refunding your charges. The usually time scales are:
1) Writing to the dune asking for a copy of your charges for the last 6 years using a "Subject Access Request" beneath the Data Protection Act - 40 Days to respond
2) First letter to the wall asking for your charges back - 14 days to respond
3) Letter Before Action, giving the dune one last haphazard to refund you previously you take court conduct - 14 days to respond
4) File a Claim at the Small claims court - 5 days for claim to be served
5) Time for bank to respond to claim - 14 days from claim anyone served
6) If the bank respond, time to put surrounded by a defence - 14 days
So you will be going from step 2. Usually the wall ignore the first message completely, and only spawn a response to the second.
Once the claim has be served by the small claims court, if the bank don't reply inwardly 14 days you win by default, if they do respond they enjoy 14 days to put in a fortification. Just because the bill says 1950 it does not imply it was made consequently. It only mode that the design for that bill was created within 1950. That means it could of be made any where between 1950 to 1963. Which is when a fresh series was created.
It's not worth much more than facade value. It's an mature bill and might make a nice mixing to a collection but by itself, unless it is in mint/uncirculated condition you won't bring much over $20 for it.
