My dad died 6 months ago, my mum is receiving bereavement benefit. She also have cancer.
On advice, she applied for INCOME SUPPORT. 2 months following we had still hear nothing roughly her claim, they then said she may be entitles to INCAPACITY BENEFIT due to the cancer. So, she sent rotten the medical certificates from the doctor to them and we are still waiting5 months then!
They keep fobbing us rotten when we call...she have had to retract her direct debts as the bank will no longer adopt them...she is owed payments back to 18th June when my dad died, will they bother to even fulfil this to her??
Can someone please administer some advice on how to return with things moving, she has be diagnosed as having a timorous breakdown thru all this but Income Support and Incapacity Benefit JUST DON'T CARE!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss but if your Mum goes onto Incapacity Benefit it will thieve about 3 months previously it is sorted but they will back date it for her, If you are really worried go and get in contact near your citizens Advice and they will telephone the Income Support and if you are not thankful with them progress to your solicitor and he will arrange for them to get a crisis loan out to you ASAP , I hope this help, my wife is a solicitor and they have done this previously so it does work.

The simply way I could do it be to cut down my shopping budget. I never have money for anything bar food anyway so I had to cut my shopping budget for myself, my husband and our two kids, one of which have special dietry needs. I cut it from lb80 a week to lb50. Its be extremely hard but the lb30 pounds a weeks save was smaller number than I was man charged so was better surrounded by the long run. I am still late on some payments.
I do not own a credit card as my husband had one roughly 20 years ago and only just now managed to reward it back. He have scrapped his too. We hold a debit card and a check book. That gets us through. That works for us.
Whether that works for you is a different issue and I know that does not really answer your question, as I enjoy not told you a way of avoiding it purely preventing it from happening within the first place.
