it depends if you have need of space,or picture quality.point and shoot cameras usually are easier to use,and most are digital,but they are relatively huge,ultra compact is good when your target is lucid,and space is an issue.My opinion would be the point and shoot style.
For vacation, I would want the compact version. There's not much worse than have to lug a large camera next to several lenses around while trying to sightsee.
dont like the ultra compact for photo classes. too damn small to work near like profusely of damn cell phonnes. for photo classes need full body cameras that hook to a tripod among other things.
