The US Treasury website will show you how to spot a counterfeit...right luck...you can also take the bills to your mound. They can tell you. There is also a pen you can buy that you smudge bills with. if the ink dries clear or sickly, it is a good write down...if it dries black, it is a fake.

My personal favorite method for counterfeit detection is a UV (Black) light. For US transcript, the mylar thread glows lower than UV light, and respectively denomination glows a different color. This also works for the majority of world banknotes, also.
