Finance Help?

Question:
A company issued a 30-year, 10 percent semiannual bond 7 years ago. the bond currently sells for 108 percent of its facade value.

What is the Pretax cost of debt?

Been working for hours on this and own no idea how to do it. I can't even receive my HP 10 BII calculator to do it. Some help please?

Answer:
I don't hold my financial calculator with me but if you hold one handy here is what you do.

Input the following

Present Value = 108% of Par Value which assume is $1,000 so which is capital outlay so generate negative
PV = $-1,080
n or T depending on your calculator is 23 years times 2 payments per year so
n=46
Payment is 10% of Par Value or $100 divided by 2 semiannual payments so PMT = $50
Future efficacy of bond is par value of $1,000
to summarize

n = 46
PV = -$1,080
PMT = $50
FV = $1,000
solve for i and you own your answer. Hope this helps.
You own asked this question from the perspective of the issuing corporation so the answer is 10%. The coupon rate and not the marketplace price is what the corporation sees as its pretax cost of debt.
The debt have 23 years remaining

Pmts remaining = 23*2 (two a year) = 46

Semiannual pmt = 5 (on a par value of 100)

Present advantage = 108 (what the bond is currently worth)

in Excel: =rate(46,-5,108,-100) = 4.58%

So, the semiannual cost of debt is 4.58%. To annualize this:

1.0458 * 1.0458 - 1 = 9.37%...This is the answer surrounded by my book. The reason that the bond trades at 108 is that the bond pays 10% interest, but the marketplace considers the market rate of the borrower to be smaller number.

Why are both the British pound and the euro worth more than the US dollar?

Question:
We have the biggest reduction in the world. Why doesn't our currency own the value?

Answer:
Because of the epic amount of debt we have (the deficit). What is the deficit? It is us borrowing money from other countries to pay envelope for stuff that the government is wasting money on. Think of it as a credit card beside no cap on it. The greater contained by debt we become (the more obligated to others to pay down debt) the weaker our currency become.
Because we have the biggest debts surrounded by the world to go next to that.
cos they are wealthier than usa
hahahaha , we are the best ! i guess that it is bcz UK is more powerful :D
We might have the biggest cutback, but guess who owns all the bank?
They are not worth more or less. You are looking at exchange rates which enjoy no meaning. You own to look at prices. What does a Big Mac cost in Europe compared to the US?

One pound may be worth more but you work twice as long to earn it.
Cause EU rocks toddler! Hehawwwww ! God bless Europe, the craddle of civilization!
Because its more expensive in Europe. Gas is $7 a galon.
Can't dally till we're at $4 this summer.
Britain used to be very...um it have a large empire? dunno lol. Because...Gah I'm hungry....
America have more trade deficit than Europe and many other places.
Why shouldnt it?
Maybe since you know what... torism have slowed somewhat so it has a knock on effect?
I don't regard as the economists who might be able to explain are spending their time on Answers, waiting to answer your examine. LOL!
Um, actually, we've be borrowing from Japan or China, whichever, for quite some time presently. we're in debt up to our eye ball. The Dollar is starting to lose it's value because other up and coming nation want their crack at the economy so their switching to the euro standard, which surrounded by turn will give the U.S. dollar smaller amount value. I don't reflect on it will hurt us because they will be exporting from us this time because it would be cheaper to do so.

we can't be on top forever!

Oh, and you can thank Bush for appropriating, what was it, 80 Billion dollars into that money pit he call a war!
They are merely arbitrary unitary measurements of merit, that's all.

You could start afresh tomorrow next to every 10 dollars today being worth 1 dollar tomorrow.

That would propose every pound today (worth 2 dollars) would be worth 20 cents tomorrow.

Look at general comparative costs/wages between USA/UK and you'll get.

It's swings and roundabouts anyway - the cheaper it is for a country to buy (import), the more expensive it is for that country to sell (export).
It's a flea market and the rates will vary. The British Pound maintain a level of greater meaning - the Euro does not. There are political factors, monetary factors .. current events. Supply and constraint!

Wich is better for a business memorandum.. Blue or black ink?

Question:

Answer:
black. i guess. i wouldnt care wither path. if someone throws a fit about that afterwards they need to verbs their panties out of their *** and settle down.
black. it copies better
type written in black
In the business world, black is considered more professional and formal. Colored ink is ok for informal and cool notes.
Either one is fine -- from working surrounded by various directive firms over the past 14 years, I can put in the picture you that many businesses and statute firms prefer blue ink because today's copiers are so good that it's habitually very difficult to differentiate between an inspired and a copy when the original is signed contained by black ink. When you have an resourceful signed in blue ink, near is virtually no question as to which is the inspired -- even color copiers make markedly different color copies.
I infer black looks more professional.
Black is the standard and formel way to use as ink for a business memorandum....

Here's also part of an article published on The Boston Globe :

Red ink should be used for corrections and editing, while blue or black ink is mostly used for handwritten communications. I think it would be eccentric to handwrite an entire letter surrounded by red ink, regardless of the subject. In fact, business communications are usually word processed (typed, surrounded by the old terminology) within black ink, rather than written longhand. The with the sole purpose time it's appropriate to handwrite a business communication is when you're sending a personal note to someone -- thank the person for taking you to lunch, for example.

A corollary issue is what color of ink to use when signing a communication. Again, the tradition of using black or blue ink for your signature is one that still stands. Lately, I find that I'm increasingly human being asked to sign forms and documents in blue ink to differentiate the inventive signed document from facsimile or photo copies. With color copiers coming into wider use, however, even signing in blue may not be agreeable in the adjectives.

Hope that helped a bit...:-)
Black ink is regard as symbol of professionalism in business writing while blue ink is used to write on invoices, receipts, and others.
If you're writing a business notification, always use black ink. I assume you're conversation about computer printer ink. If you're not, I strongly recommend you type your response because handwriting a response is not considered proper business protocol and more importantly will construct your message seem unprofessional. If you must handwrite, use black ink and print the words (don't use cursive).

You want to use black ink over blue ink mostly because if someone requests to copy or fax your letter for doesn`t matter what reason, blue ink does not show fundamentally well. Try it yourself - use blue ink and manufacture a photocopy on the copy machine and you'll see you own to darken the image if not it will come out with blank spots and will be sturdy to read. The same happens beside a fax machine or a scan image. Therefore, black ink is preferred.

Another point is that black ink is the standard use within the business world - most others use it - so your letter will appear beneath the other correspondence if you use a different ink.

If you want evidence that black ink is preferred - typewriters, fax machines, copy machines, and default printer types other use black ink.

I should point out that blue ink is a choice that you can use when writing business correspondence. It's not wrong to write in blue ink. I would right to be heard that printing in blue ink is too much and I would consider it something to avoid. The simply reason printing within blue ink would be good is that it's better than handwriting. It's a hundred times easier to read a computer printed or typewritten response than it is any handwriting. Key point: writing contained by blue ink, is acceptable. It's purely that black ink is PREFERRED.

Bottom line: In demand of preference next to 1 being most favorable and 5 man least favorable:

1. Printing: black ink
2. Printing: blue ink
3. Handwriting: black ink (print words)
4. Handwriting: blue ink (print words)
5. Handwriting any ink (cursive)

I hope this is encouraging.
For a business letter, I would significantly reccomend using black ink. More professional and formal.

Financial direction on moving?

Question:
I am moving to AZ from OH. What type of things do I need to verbs about by moving to AZ?

insurances, taxes, cost of living, owning a vehicle beside a loan on it... anything I'm not thinking of... I want to know average costs of things and things I need set straight contained by order to be resident of AZ.

Please, serious answers and no spam... I report that crap!

Thanks!

Answer:
I be born and raised within Arizona but have lived contained by Washington State for the past 10 years.

Arizona have many climates--most folks believe it is 100% desert, but it's not. One of the reason people believe adjectives of the state is a desert is because the two biggest metro areas, Phoenix and Tucson, are in the desert.

If you are moving to Phoenix metro nouns, I've always favored the East Valley (Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler). Many folks move to the west side (Glendale, West Phoenix) since it is a bit cheaper, but in attendance are reasons why property values are lower (more crime, gang diversion, etc.--at least when I lived there). I know co-workers who bought on the west side because they could save a few thousand dollars on buying a house, but when they go to sale discovered their homes didn't appreciate as much as if they would hold bought in other areas.

Summer electricity costs are big due to air conditioning; SRP be cheaper than APS when I lived there. When looking at a house or apartment, you can request to see the previous power bill from the utility company to present you an idea of what your power bill may be. But that will be a orb park figure; some folks preserve their homes close to 90 degrees to squirrel away a few bucks and other keep their home at 70 degree to be more comfortable so the power usage of previous tenants may not clash your use.

The first few winters you probably won't hardly use the heating system, until your blood thins out.

Regarding cars, one thing that really amazed me after moving to Washington, be how much longer belts, hoses and batteries closing on cars up here. Due to the extreme heat you will spend more on those items contained by Arizona than you have surrounded by Ohio.

Traffic is a mess in the Phoenix metro nouns so I would recommend you try to live fairly close to where on earth you work or go to university. They keep building roads and freeways, but the growth is non-stop!

Arizona have a sales tariff and an income tax.

Coming from Ohio, you will perceive that produce is not the same giant quality as you are used to.

AZ is a great place to live; I still miss the sunrises and sunsets and the level of people who live in attendance.

Good luck!! Hope this helps some within your planning!!
