SBI is the biggest bank of India, I never have a problem with them. Book updation and DD sure take time everywhere. If they can't solve any of your queries or suspension things for no good intention you better try finding their headquarter address and directly complaint against your branch employees in that.

On another data, if you don't have plenty money and must choose between retirement and a child's education, fund your retirement. Your child can gain subsidised loans at very low rates to attend college, you cannot do that for retirement. If you don't own enough to live on, don't expect your kid to fully support you simply because you sent them to college, that isn't fair to them or to yourself (not self independant).
