Each state like California have a Department of Corporations where you can look up the business signature to see if it is valid. There should also be a fictitious business name on profile with the Clerk Recorder within the County where the business is located. It would be valuable to see the email you received. Be very shy of of companies that try to use individuals as "escrow companies" as this is business sector very conscientiously monitored by the Insurance Commissioner for the State. Escrow companies have specific bonds, license. etc that allow them to be the neutral 3rd body receiving funds, etc.

But they would sell me this other one for close to twice the price. I have have it happen at Staples, on a digital camera and i-pad, where on earth the advertised one, near all the features we needed was conveniently out of stock, and they would blissfully sell me this other one, for as expected more $. The camera I ended up buying at Walmart, but my husband did buy the more expensive i-pad here. I have also have this happen at Lowes, seperately, on a dryer and washer. The second time, on the washer, we did express our disdain and ended up waiting for the cheaper model I looked-for to come in the subsequent week. Is this a sales ploy?
