He was married near grown kids (Empty Nester's).

I work within the circ dept of a newspaper. When I first started-we did enjoy a position for delivering paper's as a full time post. The pay be 9.50 an hour + benefits + mileage. But-then they dropped the position down to under 20 hours a week so they wouldn't own to pay benefits any longer-but added a company vehicle to drive. That was doing a "motor route".
"Foot" carrier's typically make around .09 - .35 cents a treatise, depending on what day it is. If you have a large route, or a few routes you could do reasonably well. We hold some carrier's that delivering paper's is a ful time profession for them. One in individual has 9 routes and take home about $900.00 a month. In short, if you considered necessary a way to supplement your income, you could do mode worse.
