Explain the personality and accounting treatment for fixed asset ...?

Question:
it's my assignment .. couldn't found the info ... thanks for the serve

Answers:
Nature and treatment of fixed assets (now known as Property, Plant & Equipment) is govern by IAS 16.

The objective of IAS 16 is to prescribe the accounting treatment for property, plant, and equipment. The principal issues are the timing of tribute of assets, the determination of their carrying amounts, and the depreciation charges to be recognised in relation to them.

Recognition -
Items of property, plant, and equipment should be recognised as assets when it is probable that: [IAS 16.7]
* the adjectives economic benefits associated near the asset will flow to the enterprise; and
* the cost of the asset can be measured reliably.
This recognition principle is applied to adjectives property, plant, and equipment costs at the time they are incurred. These costs include costs incurred initially to acquire or construct an item of property, plant and equipment and costs incurred subsequently to add to, replace factor of, or service it.

For a summary of IAS 16, pls refer to the link below.
In accounting fixed assets are buildings, solid estate properties and machineries. They are called fixed assets because they
are immovable. In a stability sheet, fixed assets are to be
found in the credit side since they are not liability but
properties of a company or corporation.
If you are referring to depreciation, then nearby is the straight-line method and the accelerated method. The then method more accurately reflects the adjectives lives of fixed assets, according to the type (i.e. cars, fixtures, buildings, etc.). There should be a schedule surrounded by your textbook that discusses "modified accelerated cost retrieval system." I'm a bit rusty, but I hope that helps a bit.

Consider the following scenario: Your company sell its products in heaps different countries. The Director of Exporting and Trade has granted to take on a few interns over the summer to help the company communicate next to its outlets within the mixed foreign countries. The interns, who are studying to get their Associate Degrees surrounded by Business, are going to need an introduction to international labor if they are going to be capable of communicate with the different countries.
o Write a 350-to 700-word memo explaining the fundamentals of how labor forces influence international business.
o Include information on labor quality, body, and mobility, as well as minorities, the labor marketplace, and labor unions.

****Not asking anyone to write it. Just needed any idea's from different people on their perspective as far as different markets and labor+ labor power, and unions around the country. And any concept on how to approach it. Thanks :)

I think that the effect of labor forces are going to be peerless for each country. I would start on chain doing research on the countries that you want to write about. As an example, labor is smaller amount expensive in countries resembling China and Mexico and that is why the introduction business is what it is today. That is a major influence on international business. There should be plenty info there to use as a starting point and see where on earth that leads you. There are also consulates for different countries surrounded by most major cities that may be capable of help you next to getting info on their country. A place that you may want to consider looking in is the World Trade Center. They also hold offices around the country and should hold some relevant info that you could use. They have 300 office in most countries around the world. I hope that help.

Product Controller vs. Business Analyst?

Question:
I have two offer from two big investment banks; one as a product controller surrounded by structured credits in nouns and the other one is front office business analyst within IT for exotic equity derivatives area where on earth you will deal near risk and pricing. What are the carrer prospects for both of them? I am not sure what I would like to do within future however I know that I would approaching to gain as much product knowledge as I can and enjoy deeper understanding of business. Business analyst position pays 10 -15 k (in pounds) more compared to product controller position. Business Analyst role seem more dynamic as it is a change admin role where as product control seem more repetitive and not very challening contained by that sense ( or I may be wrong). Which one should I choose, please help?

Answers:
I know that $10k sounds close to a lot of money when you are first starting out, but it really isn't surrounded by the overall scheme of things. The existing question is what you would fairly be doing and where respectively would take you. Having worked within risk management and as a product superintendent (i.e. not product control) for 15 years, I can say that man a business analyst is not as great as you might think. Yes, you will be supporting the risk and pricing, but you won't be doing adjectives of the analytic work in creating the risk and pricing models. You are chunk of IT, which is more of a support role. I know of few people who ever create it from IT to the front office. If you run this route, you should look at a quantitative degree program such as the Courant Institute at NYU, Carnegie Mellon's MSCF program, etc. so you will enjoy skills that will be noticed by the front bureau people. You could target self a front office quant individual, with a potential compensation of in the order of $200-500k. But, if you do not go this route, afterwards being a business analyst for IT is not really an incredible mission. Remember, you will still spend a lot of time next to programmers explaining what needs to be done and trialling out the applications. Please do not tell the IT colleagues that I interact next to.

On the product control side, you could learn profusely about different products and pick up some devout skills supporting the desk. You could also learn how they advantage their portfolio and manage risk. From product control, you could move into Risk Management. Or if you could also pick up some accurate quantitative finance skills, you might know how to impress the front office. I tend to suggest that product control has the better craft track between the two jobs unless you can somehow move to the front department. You might also want to look into being a CPA within Product Control, because you could target being an overall controller or CFO.

Just a few fickle thoughts. I would chose Product Control for myself.
I am happy to hear this that you know Product Controller vs. Business Analyst. You can find more information here.

Can a business that's not 501 3C gain grant? If so, how does one step roughly it?

Question:

Answers:
It is hard to find grant to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal establishment and even private foundations hardly donate grant money for a for-profit business.

Nonetheless, you can turn to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal organization to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any admit that would support a for-profit venture.

Even SBA does NOT supply out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/co...

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not donate grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does proffer a wide array of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some admit programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organization that provide small business management, systematic, or financial assistance. These grants mostly support non-profit organizations, intermediary lend institutions, and state and local governments."

Here is a information bank of federal grants for small businesses. See if here is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/catalo...

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups near specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanate from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organization involved in training or other similar deeds (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

I suggest you read the following books to get concept of how to finance your business:

Financing Your Small Business http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/1...
Small Business Financing: How and Where To Get It http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/0...
Financing the Small Business: A Complete Guide to Obtaining Bank Loans and All Other Types of Financing http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/1...
The SBA Loan Book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/1...
Angel Capital : How to Raise Early-Stage Private Equity Financing http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/0...
Financing Your Small Business (Barron's Business Library Series) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/0...
Most grant are restricted in some route, and very few would be available to a business that isn't a 501(c)3.

Who is the biggest fraudster till date contained by world history.?

Question:
can u tell me in the order of a scam and who did it.the one u think is the biggest amount perceptive or skills wise.

Answers:
Charles Ponzi (March 3, 1882–January 18, 1949) be an Italian immigrant to the United States who became one of the greatest swindlers within American history. His aliases include Charles Ponei, Charles P. Bianchi, Carl and Carlo. Although many population have never hear of Ponzi, the term "Ponzi scheme" is a in good health known description of fraud that continues to this daytime through its modern version, the "get money fast" schemes that percolate through the Internet.
When Ponzi be released he eventually made his way put money on to Boston. There he met an Italian girl, Rose Gnecco, who was swept sour her feet by Ponzi's charm. Though Ponzi did not make clear to Gnecco about his years within jail, his mother sent Gnecco a dispatch telling her of Ponzi's former. Gnecco's love for Ponzi remained unswayed. By 1918 they were married. For the subsequent few months he worked at a number of businesses, in the past hitting upon an idea to vend advertising within a large business list to be sent to various businesses, an notion which others would later, independently invent as the Yellow Pages. Ponzi, sadly, was powerless to sell this belief to businesses, and his company failed soon after.

A few weeks then Ponzi received a letter contained by the mail from a company within Spain asking about the catalog. Inside the envelope be a postal reply coupon, which he had never see before. He asked give or take a few it, and the Ponzi scheme be born. The basic perception behind the postal reply coupon be to allow the sender to buy stamps in the foreign country for reply letters, instead of requiring the recipient to rate for them. For instance, a lawyer could convey a document to England for reading, including a coupon that would pay for English stamps to allow the receiver to send it final.

The rates for the coupons had originally be fixed during an international postal union contained by 1907, setting the local price of each coupon to buy an equal amount of stamps within any country. For instance, one might pay 4 shillings contained by England for a coupon, or $1 in the US, the two amounts mortal equal at the time. When the war terminated, many European currencies be massively devalued. However, because the exchange rate on the coupons was not changed, one could buy such a coupon for the resourceful rate and exchange it for stamps at the current exchange rate.

Ponzi noticed the postal coupon purchased contained by Europe for about one cent surrounded by American funds could be cashed in for just about six American one-cent stamps. The first step was to convert his American money into a currency where on earth the exchange rate was favorable. Ponzi's foreign agents would after use these funds to purchase postal coupons in countries beside weak economy. The stamp coupons were consequently exchanged back into a favorable foreign currency and finally stern into American funds. He claimed that his net profit on these transactions, after expenses and exchange rates, be in excess of 400%. This be a form of arbitrage, or buying low and selling high--such a transaction is not in itself unfair.

Ponzi began to canvass his friends and associates to grasp backing for his undertaking. He offered them a 50% return on their money in 45 days, or a doubling of their money within 90 days. The great returns available from postal reply coupons, he explained to them, made such incredible profits easy. He started his own company, the Securities Exchange Company, to promote the cook up.

Ponzi's sales pitch be smooth and low-key. He managed to achieve a few investors, and paid them stale as he had promised. The word spread, and investors begin to come in the door at an increasing rate. He hired agents and salaried them generous commissions for every dollar they brought within. By February 1920, Ponzi's total take be $5,000 USD, a tidy sum for the time. That was only just the beginning.

By March, he be up to $30,000. A frenzy was building, and Ponzi begin to hire agents to take contained by money from all over New England and New Jersey. If investors be doubtful, he would overwhelm them with his stripe of talk. By throwing his star-studded pay-off rates at people, he could habitually persuade would-be investors.

By May 1920, he be up to $420,000. He began depositing the money surrounded by the Hanover Trust Bank, in hopes that once his sketch was substantial enough he could invade his will on the bank or even be made its president. He contained by fact manage to get a controlling interest within the bank.

By July 1920, he be up to millions. Widows were mortgaging their homes, associates were taking their vivacity savings to invest near the clever Ponzi. Most did not collect their interest, but reinvested.

Ponzi was bringing within cash at a fantastic rate, but the simplest financial analysis showed that he wasn't making money, he be losing it rapidly. For every dollar he took within, he went more very much into debt. As long as money kept flowing in, Ponzi would stay ahead of the eventual collapse.

Ponzi lived luxuriously: he bought a mansion next to air conditioning and a heated swimming pool, and brought his mother from Italy surrounded by a first-class stateroom on an ocean liner. He be a hero among the Italian community, and was cheered everywhere he went.
