I am a CFA charter holder and I'll play devil's suggest. Here are some reasons why you wouldn't do it:
a) If you're going into principle, you would be better off resting on your Masters (for education High School) or Doctorate (for post-graduate). This isn't to say that the CFA charter wouldn't be honourable or prepare you as well as a diploma, but the model is to position yourself where you capture qualifications that are valued by your hiring arranger.
b) The CFA is not necessarily "superior" for qualification in private nouns. A CFP is a much broader-scoped certificate that looks into particularly valuable skillsets resembling taxation, trusts and other non-security issues. Meanwhile, the CFA curriculum is a lazer concentration on securities theory.
c) The CFA is not cheap and not comfortable. Unless you are ready, disciplined and steadfast, you WILL fail and this will be a spend foolishly of your time. You need a minimum of 2.5 years, of which you will dispense up all your spare time from January to theory test time.
d) Getting a job contained by security analysis is terribly difficult. Getting a CFA charter is very, terrifically helpful contained by getting a job in attendance, but not required. Likewise, getting a job in need a CFA charter is not required. Thus, it's a chicken and egg problem. Would you have gotten the assignment without the CFA charter? Who know. Will getting a CFA charter get you the livelihood? Who knows. It's an investment beside its own risks.
