US Federal Budget: The other daylight I be looking at the Federal Budget, and...?

The other day I be looking at the Federal Budget, and I noticed a couple interesting things:
1) 2.7 trillion / 300 million citizens = $9,000 per citizen. This is the amount the federal establishment spends on behalf of each US citizen. Are you getting your money's worth? Where exactly would you cut/add?
2) The U.S. governing body spends:
447 Billion (per year) or the equivalent of $1,493 per person on the Military,
and something like 1.7 billion or the equivalent of $5.52 per person on "Eenergy Supply"/"Research and development".
Hmmm, $1,493 on military vs. $5.52 on perkiness research; any thoughts on that?

The constitution of the US states that the role of governing body is to provide for our common defense. No where on earth does "research" enter into the Constitution. It isn't a mandate of government to study anything. It is the mandate of organization to provide for our common defense; build roads; provide for the welfare of its citizenry (which might allow some research into determining what is best for the citizens); and deliver the messages. Most other expenditures are outside the realm of administration.
If I were to "cut expenses" I muse I'd quit subsidizing foriegn governments (we furnish several billions of dollars a year to Egypt as part of the Carter initiative to assure Israel would relinquish its claims on the Sinai penninsula, for instance.) We donate several billions of dollars per year to Israel so they won't attack Egypt again. Our foreign payments seem other high to me.
I'd bring our troops out of non-war areas (Korea and Germany).
I'd quit providing food subsidies to any nation (which usually a moment ago leads to imbalance in supply and distrubution cause regional instabilities).
Nearly 40% of our budget goes to "social services" close to retirement, food stamps, housing assistance, veterans benefits, and other "worthy causes." I'd cut those out. The elected representatives has no business self a charity. I'd hope that the people would be charitable--not the affairs of state. When the government tries to implement charity, they usually do a pretty poor career of it, and take away the benefits of serving your fellowman, replacing it next to an attitude of "expecting something for nothing."

OMG you have my out-and-out sympathy - I have wrangled beside them for the last 10 months since moving into my fresh house, which no one have lived in up to that time me. BG supplied both gas and electric whilst the builders were here and enjoy continued to do so ever since. I have a customer number, but over the finishing 10 months, every time I quote this number at them, they tell me I don't exist, however they managed to lift money out of my bank statement.
Take my word for it, do not waste your time emailing them it will gain you absolutely nowhere.
