How do you walk roughly disputing a check?

I am going to stop by the bank on Monday, but I merely wanted to catch some advice over the weekend up to that time then.
I just now paid beside a check for a loan officer training manual that included several CDs and DVDs. When I get home, the package be missing four of the CDs. I immediately call the customer service number and I had to walk off a message. They took a couple of days to call me rear legs, but they told me they would mail the missing CDs. I get the package contained by the mail a few days following and there be only two out of the four missing CDs. I hold called hindmost three separate times and left three separate messages trying to resolve this problem, but I hold not received a return phone call. I know it would be no issue to dispute the charge if I have paid beside a credit card, but I'm not quite sure in the order of the process for disputing a charge when you pay next to a check.
The training package be $695, so I'm a little bit irritated to articulate the least... ;)

If the check has not cleared the dune yet , you can telephone your banks 24 hour number and place a stop allowance on the check, keep contained by mind though you may be liable for a bounced check or have to rate a fee for the stopped recompense. If the check has already cleared in that is nothing you can do as far the dune is concerned, but you can always contact the company and give an account them you are expecting a refund for returning your books. If they don't want to cooperate afterwards you may have to speak next to a Attorney, or you can inform them that you will make a nickname to the Federal Trade Commission.

If "everybody" is selling, and nobody is buying, the price will go down and down and down until "buyers" are found, if any. Ok here it is,
Around 2 months ago i took my laptop to comet for repairs and they said they would send it to acer and it should be support within 2 weeks.
We wait over a month without audible range anything and phoned comet up, comet said to us "the couriers who take the laptop from us to acer hold lost it" (DHL).
We were told the issue be being sorted out and DHL have accepted liability, and we would hear from somebody.
A few weeks passed and still nil so we contacted comet and they said they were working on it.
We enjoy phoned several times since then and they maintain saying equal things "we are keeping on at acer to do somthing about it".
Now this is the point, it is just getting rediculous in a minute 2 weeks to 2months.
What should we do to get my cheque?

As others say the issue is near the retailer.
The small claims route is correct. Send a letter to the store [copy to their leader office] setting out what you want done and head it "Letter up to that time action" and close it with a sentance that go something like "If I do not get hold of satisfaction from you inside 14 days from I shall start action within the small claims court".
If they do not deal next to it in that time shift to court. The court staff are very loyal.
A warning though - you do call for to have documentation of respectively stage of the process from original mart to the date of the hearing together beside a "diary note" of what you said to staff, and when and what they said to you.
