Don't ship Fedex. They do not give insurance on ground packages. They ask you the value of the collection and charge you extra if the value is over $100, but they do not bestow insurance. G00GLE Fedex insurance and you'll see a lot of complaints from race who found out the hard method that they don't insure packages.
If the overall box size is less than 108" (girth+height), you can ship it UPS and insure it.
DHL is cheaper than UPS, but tend to mete out more damage (from my experience).
The solely other option is Greyhound, which is super cheap, but they will hold to pick up at the Greyhound station.
For a deer, I would wrap the antlers with bubble wrap and next wrap the entire thing beside foam (king size foam mattress pads are great and cheap packing material) and later fill any voids contained by the box with the packing peanuts. I wouldn't use only packing peanuts.

When paying vendors, they repeatedly offer a 'term discount' if you money within a constant period. My accounting software requirements me to debit the entire amount to the expense account, and credit AP the amount after the discount, and credit the remainder to another statement. Anyone know what type of account should be used for these discounts?

If you hold different types of discounts and want to "lump" them all together surrounded by one account, e.g. change discounts, term discounts, size discounts, etc. just set up a contra A/P article called "Vendor Discounts." If you want to save track of different kind of discounts, set up separate accounts and first name them accordingly.
If your software doesn't allow for contra liability accounts, you could just set up an income description and call it "Vendor Discounts" or "Purchase Discounts."
You should own a discount account that would be credited near the a/p account. It is call a contra a/p account. That mode you can track the amount of discounts you have taken over the year.
From my experience, discounts would not be celebrated unless earned (paid in the terms). However, in this scenario the credit would move about to a discounts available balance sheet side. This account would be categorized near the A/P account to hold the amount of the discount until earn.
When the invoice is paid, the amount of the discount would after move from this account to an discount earn account. This depiction is a variance/contra-expense account on the income statement. Therefore the amount rewarded would be debited from A/P and credited from Cash, and the discount would be debit from Discounts Available (BS) and credited to Discounts Earned (IS).
