It really depends. If you called for something enormously important after you must leave a message else you may or may walk out a courteous message. Preferably it is always well brought-up to leave a message so that the other party can find out how important be the call that he/she missed.
When I recieve blank messages on my phone, I consider it rude to swing up without at smallest leaving your first name. I try to always head off a message and a number where I can be reach.
