Answers:
It depends on when the person deposits the check and what edge they use. If they use the same hill as you, the check should clear on the same afternoon. If they use a different bank, it could bear 2-3 business days.

like a week
This is exactly why I *don't* hold direct deposit - it all lead to the account holder "needing" to income for overdraft "protection" just contained by case of stuff resembling this. I think it's adjectives a way for the bank industry and employers to flock everyone into the same pen lately so there's less paperwork for them to do. Frankly, I don't see the "convenience" of direct deposit - how do you know exactly how much be deposited until you receive your check stub? Don't some banks still charge for symmetry inquiries?

Sorry about your predicament, but what I'd push for is that you not record the deposit 'til you can confirm *with your bank* that it be actually made. But I'm going to guess it take 3-5 business days for a check to clear - the farther away it went contained by the mail, the longer it take to get spinal column to your bank. And if you lift this up with HR, I enjoy to think your company should be *perfectly* predisposed to cover any overdraft fees you may incur in the meantime. It's their slate - they should cover the costs of it. (That's not saying they *will,* though.)
All bank are beginning to use a clean system where the checks are cashed that business light of day, Kind of debited out of the check writers portrayal. If you still have one of the checking accounts that sends the cancelled checks subsidise to you,,,,,,,,you will have notice some of them are just copies of the checks, those are the ones that are ACH'd directly from the writers commentary,,,,,,so dont count on amy grace period anymore,,,,not surrounded by these days of illustrious speed everything LOL
