First of all, if you own a patent most companies will not rip you rotten. They won't want to fight within court over the patent. Secondly, making a prototype can be a bit tricky without much money. I don't know what your invention is or does, but if it is electronic contained by nature it could appropriate a lot of know how to brand name it work.
