Did my husband do something honorable or foolish (see description)?

Question:While I was pregnant, he arranged to get a better-paying charge so I could stay home with our babe-in-arms. One company (Co #1) wanted to hire him but be waiting on a contract for the project he would manage. A month go by and no contract / no offer.

In the meantime Company #2 offered him a living making 15% more than his current salary -- he asked for a few days to consider (really considered necessary time to wait for hold out from Co #1 as he liked the ancestors / project there better and they would pay envelope more $). A week went by, Co #1still have no contract so he accepted the present from company #2 over the phone (they put acceptance papers within the mail for him to sign).

Literally the subsequent morning, Co #1 made him an offer and added even more $ to the agreement. But my husband said he had already given his word and he have to stick to it. The Co#1 manager (and I) reminded him he have not signed anything, but he stuck with his word and go to Co #2 for less money ... what do you expect of his decision?

Answers:
Your husband sounds similar to a man of integrity. I applaud him.
Sometimes it is not just roughly the money!

He will make a wonderful father!

Other Answers:
depends on how u c it

I think you should be proud to be married to a man who think his word and his honor is more important than money. I suggest it was honorable that he stuck beside the job he first official verbally, but when company's in our time do not have loyalty to workers (white or blue collar), I estimate he should have taken the livelihood he felt more comfortable next to. He hadn't signed the papers, so he was still free to do so.

Probably a little bit of both. At tiniest he's a man of his word.

Be happy that he be even looking for a job and trying to label the best. He couldn't just sit and linger for #1 when well......... he didn't know. He be doing what was best for the two of you...economically 3 of you now.

All that matters--you are making more than what you be before from his current company.

Be happy he have a job and diligence.. more than what some people hold.

I reckon it was honorable because it shows that your husband is biddable at keeping his word..from what you wrote he really wanted the Co #1 situation but went beside what he promised. Either way your husband is making more money consequently he was beside his original profession even if it is by 15%....dont get barmy because he did this for you, maybe Co #1 assignment just wasnt intended to be. It all comes down to this: At the wind up of the day, your husband have to feel pious about his whereabouts. If he felt he needed to hold on to his comittment to Co#2, then that be the right decision to form.

WELL IT IS A BIT FOOLISH, BUT MOST MEN. LIKE TO SIK TO DER WORD

I'm glad he stuck to his word. BUT, I find it intricate to believe the
company will ever be that loyal to HIM. I'd have said a heart-felt
I'm sorry but, to the #2 Co, and gone beside #1!

I've done alike thing. I've kicked myself for the concluding 20 years. I'm a knucklehead. Thank you cause presently I know I'm not alone. look at it this way....by signing the espousal papers, that binds him to a contract. it would have have bad repercussions, resembling paying a fine for breaking the contract....it could have cost him something contained by the end, and next he wouldnt have anything effective what he needed to support you and the baby...

it really shouldnt concern as long as hes getting paid...especially if it is more than the brief he had....

Well, he did give his word. It depends, really, on his personal nouns, but if he gave his word consequently he should keep it.

It may be foolish; I once turned down a work as a photographer for Ollan Mills because I'd taken a job working at Six Flags. I suppose if I hadn't be asleep when the phone call come I would have fixed differently, but I've often wish I'd taken the photography job.

But it is honorable.

Too bad for Co#1. They should enjoy had their sh!t together. As long as this doesn't put you both surrounded by a financial tornado, you should be proud of him. Your husband stood by his word, that's a quality worth more than money, I'm sure he made the right choice, Company #2 may inevitability a trustworthy man as a new VP subsequent year, you never know,

Totally honorable. What it comes down to is integrety. It'll serve him powerfully somewhere down the road and because he's taken that approach, good things will ensue. The higher paying company didn't step up to the plate and get something happen. It's their loss, not his. What be they even doing hiring for the position when they had no right to even hire someone? I wouldn't sweat it for a second. He did the tough entity. But the right thing.

Sometimes we enjoy to stick with the decision we make. Our word can be everything to us; Like a code of honor. Ihope it's working out for your clan

he seem to be a man of his word, principled and disciplined. I think its OK provided he doesn't expire up being used or poor...I would enjoy gone for the better paying job since i've not signed any documents, but ppl are different...or perchance the better job might be more confrontational and involving and after much thought he just fixed that he doesn;'t want to put himself thru such jobs again and fixed to settle for something neater and easier, u never with men, one-sidedly i don't think he did anything wrong since he;s the one that will be doing the work and not u, but next TIME WILL TELL, just appropriate it easy and examine out, he might be onto something there, u never know beside men Most honorable

regularly, people's words are extremely important contained by terms of honor and respect. if he know that company 1 could have call him at any moment when he talked to company 2, and he give his word to company 2 that he would work there, next he should still go to company 2. i'm sure that the difference between the payments is not satisfactory to compel him to sell his honor (his word). i'm sure your husband is not a money-whore (forgive the wording). even if he think that company 2 is bad and the ethnic group deserve to be lied to, he gave his word to them. possibly he should have at lowest possible asked company 1 the status on the contract and even for advice on whether or not to shift to company 2. if they had told him that they don't know and that it may not arise, then he have good cause to go to company 2. he needed to support you and your baby, i'm sure. within such situations, he would have no honest reason to wage. in lingo of game proposition, he could have get a payoff of nothing if company 1 give no contract, a medium payoff from a immobilize company 2 hiring, or a higher payoff if company give the contract. he could have lost everything, so going beside company 2 was a desirable equilibrium. i hope you're adjectives happy near what he did; it shows he cares just about you. the hero strikes again!
Source(s):
my analysis

HES A FOOL! Ok, so he is a man of his word which is very honaroble but the certainty is MONEY is what matters!! That is adjectives I can say!

He made the right decision. When you endow with someone your 'word', that should be it. Once your 'word' is available to the higher/highest bidder, you are lost. A man/woman is only as upright as their word. Honor yourself. He should have back out of the situation that only have a verbal promise. His vista of the business world is COMPLETELY distorted.

First of all, it's business, not personal. What this funds is all decision are made based on what is best for the participents. They may or may not be upfront next to this. Controlling factors are individual determined by law. Not by concepts of fairness that metamorphosis from minute to minute. Your husband did not do something honorable because there be no honor to defend. He is playing by a different set of rules than what everyone have agreed to and it will eventually cost him big if he keeps it up. There is a great explanation of this surrounded by the classic business book, "Winning Through Intimidation". There are three types of people you will business deal with surrounded by the business world:

1. Those who make decision only surrounded by their own best interests and are up front with this so you can come up beside a workable compromise.

2. Those who make decision only surrounded by their own best interests but lie roughly this fact for personal gain and to fool the gullible.

3. Those who clear decisions solitary in their own best interests but instead mull over they are being altruistic. When others don't sacrifice their own wishes and needs for them, they act in response like they've be stabbed in the subsidise by their best friend or that the people involved are acting completely "dishonorably". These individuals are CRAZY. And your husband is slipping into this category. Don't let him do that.

Business and unadulterated life are completely separate situations. He requirements to learn that rash if he wants a successful job. Company #2 understands this. Although they will curse beneath their breath, they would have fully contained if your husband chose instead to go next to Company #1 because he hadn't signed anything yet. They own no claim over him and they know it (it would be a different story if he signed the contract but even that could be dealt with). Understand that, have the situation been reversed, they would enjoy absolutely no reservations more or less calling up your husband and saying, you know what, we offered you the brief but nothing have been signed and we found someone we similar to better....sorry. Best he understand this.

Likely, what would enjoy happend, btw, is Company #2 would have attempted to sweeten the agreement enough to obtain him to go next to them. Company #1 and #2 are in competition for your husband and a bidding period of war is the result. Everyone understands this.....except your husband.

Not biddable.

All of the nation that talk roughly "business is business" and that crap are reading too many "business" books and forgetting that businesses are made up of citizens and careers are made of relationships.

Your husband did the unqualified right thing by sticking to his integrity -- even when contractually / business-wise he did not own to. He could have gotten the two companies into a bidding period of war (or tried to -- both could have in recent times dumped with that approach) and after what would either company enjoy thought of him, or what would he have thought of himself -- smart move man, you get more money but your word means ****

What he did be not only honorable, it be a wise business outcome. Co #1 now GREATLY values him, more than they did when they made the 1st donate b/c they see what a man of integrity he is. He left them impressed and wanting him, and he will other have that relationship / company to jump down back on if he wants it in the adjectives, or chooses to again go find a better position.

Co #2 also values that he stuck to his word and did not exploit the situation and they will treat him resourcefully and consider him for advancement.

And you should be incredibly proud of a man that steps up to do what he needs to whip care of his ethnic group, and does not lose his moral ground in doing so. What a great example for your kids on the instrument -- congrats! Sis, you should be grateful you're married to a man who keeps his word. If he is a man of honor, keeping his word to a company and signing for smaller number money -- surely you can depend on your husband to keep his word to you on things of greater exigency.

It's his decision, and you shouldn't be asking us. (That's a mild reproach, ok?!) As I see it, your husband chose not only honor, but he be thinking about you (acting finally in getting a employment so you could stay home).

Company #1 waited too long. Didn't even update him. In the long run, I reckon that company might (even) be more problematic than the one which eventually hired him.
