How is the currency appeal determined (e.g. gold ingots reserves within the country etc.,)?
would like to know how the appeal of currency determined. also would like to know why Yen is so low within value is it to do next to the denomination or anything else. If Yen's value is if truth be told so low Japan should be a poor country which is not the case.Answers:
Ok here is the deep-seated idea of how currency worth is determined. After the gold standard and the US dollar standard fell, the world enter an age of the floating currency exchange. This means that everyday a nation currency might be more valuable or smaller number valuable than the year before. What determines the fluxuations? Buyers. Countries adjectives over the world purchase other countries currencies, which determines the value. The American Dollar is strong because oodles many countries buy a unbroken lot of US Dollars. If investors and buyers decide to stop buying US Dollars, afterwards the value of the US dollar would drop significantly. Now in the order of your Japan question, some economists argue that a country will intentionally keep hold of the exchange rate low so that buyers on the world market will not purchase the Yen for example. You would mull over that a weak national currency would indicate that this country is poor. Not other the case (China is a moral exampe), the argument is that nations close to Japan and China want their currency to be low in plus so that other nations (like the US) will buy more Japanese and Chinese products import. Think about it, if the US dollar is twice as strong as the Yen, than it can buy twice as various Japanse goods. If a computer costs 1,000 dollars within the US, but 1000 Yen in Japan, than you could buy two Japanese computers. product sense?
Other Answers:
value of a currency does not determines whether that country is rich or poor.it depends on the national income, price index and G.D.P(gross domestic product) of a country.u know it,i know it,EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD KNOWS IT,japan is world ruler in science and technology.
Looks similar to this question caught blazing. After a bit of research, it looks like baboon make a lot of sense. The good point of a currency is determined by supply and demand. A meagre currency, such as the Yen, could be used to ensure a good trade harmonize.
Value of currency is based on how much it is made and the cutback of a country. If a war is going on, the cutback is in worse shape which cause the value of currency to run down. Another thing that determines it is that how much it is made. Let's utter u have $200 on u at the moment. U wont be as far-sighted w/ ur money as if u had $50 on u instead.
by the souk rates for money trading its how commercial banks operate they invest surrounded by currencies while we sleep and move the money from one to another currancy until the tradeing results in a profit
It is determined by how much respectively nation has a reserve at the World Bank. It could be surrounded by gold reserve or silver reserve smaller quantity the amount the country owes then you get hold of the currency value. Some values are call floating rates because the are give a bigger merit than what they should have because their loan might be considered to be written stale or they are given an extension to pay sour their loans.
Lotta factors, GDP, edge reserve, stock market and most prominent SUPPLY AND DEMAND!
how much is needed how much is out there
It is determined by how much gold ingots is in the US Treasury Department.
currency values are determined on the intercontinental market by buyers and seller. its a supply and demand piece like adjectives markets and adjectives the vehicles and processes name above play a part moving the world flea market.
The currency value determined defending by the money reserves and monetary growth.
It is determind by the amount of gold the country have. The places in our country that net our cash own a limit of how much they can form. (If not the richest the U.S.A. is one of the top 5 richest countries in the world)
When currencies are "free-floating" the pro of currency is determined based on the bazaar supply and demand for the currency. The highly developed the demand (usually tied to a country's monetary activity), the higher the worth of the currency. When currencies are pegged, a currency is tied to a fixed ratio of another.
Some currencies use a greater number of units of the currency (ex. Japanese Yen, Italian Lira) for equivalent purchases near other currencies (ex. US Dollars, Euros). However, this does not mean they are valued lower.

I get another take on the subject coming from the encyclopedia prearranged as wikipedia. I put an exerp or a piece of the whole entry but I focus You guys should read the whole entity if you want since it is actually pretty interesting. unsophisticatedly here it goes
The derivation of currency is the creation of a circulating medium of exchange base on a store of value. Currency evolved from two original innovations: the use of counters to assure that shipments arrived with impossible to tell apart goods that be shipped, and the use of silver ingots to represent stored value within the form of grain. Both of these developments have occurred by 2000 BC.
This first stage of currency, where on earth metals were used to represent stored merit, and symbols to represent commodities, formed the basis of trade surrounded by the Fertile Crescent for over 1500 years. However, the collapse of the Near Eastern trading system pointed to a flaw: in an era where on earth there be no place that was undisruptive to store value, the significance of a circulating medium could just be as sound as the forces that defended that store. Trade could single reach as far as the credibility of that military.
[edit]
Coinage
These factor led to the shift of the store of efficacy being the metal itself: at first silver, consequently both silver and gold. Metals be mined, weighed, and stamped into coins. This be to assure the individual taking the coin that he was getting a sure known solidity of precious metal. Coins could be counterfeited, but they also created a new section of account, which help lead to bank. It was beside Archimedes' principle that the next interconnect in currency occur: coins could now be slickly tested for their fine weight of metal, and thus the plus of a coin could be determined, even if it had be shaved, debased or otherwise tampered next to (see Numismatics).

the governmant decides it
currency utility determined by the purchasing power of it, if it can buy more at a given time comparative to others, then it is more prized. And it can be shown in jargon of other currencies. Implicitly it also show the creditibility of the nation origin, the governing body, the econmomy, interest rate the demand and supply of the currency etc.
yen is not low surrounded by value, it simply the denomination difference, if a 1000 yen to 1 Us$, if 1000 yen can buy an apple as 1 us$ can, it doesnt make a difference, this is how relations get confused between obverse value and intrinsic value(purchasing power).
The tricks word : Trust !
Baboon is in the right direction but nearby is so much more... Consider a world with 2 exact countries. Suppose both of them decide to create respectively a currency. Country A issues 1,000,000 A-dollars while country B issues 2,000,000 B-dollars. If all rest is equal, the exchange rate should be, initially 2 B-dollars per 1 A-dollar. This have absolutely no relation to prosperity, interest rates, exports/imports etc.
As time passes, suppose everything remained equal, except country B have twice as much goods and services available for its population. Very grossly speaking. The exchange rate should drop to 1 B-dollars per 1 A-dollar.
There are several many forces acting surrounded by real world situation, but this should oblige you to further understand.

Well, I definitely do not consider the effectiveness of the yen to be that low right now. A lot of the relatives who wrote are right except the ones who wrote about gold ingots.
The guy who wrote the word "trust" is particularly right because it is adjectives based on the investors PERCEPTION of the stability of the cutback. Japan has have their act together for a long time and they are perceived to be severely stable.
However, Bank of Japan manipulates the currency souk by flooding the market next to yen. This keeps the appeal low thus increasing the attractivness of its exports high. This is adjectives much to the dismay of the US who would like Japan to buy some American stuff near all of that US currency they are baggy on to. But, buying consumer items from another country is not necessarily beneficial to Japan in the short possession, and they can't see the long term.
What they repeatedly do is use that money to buy land surrounded by Hawaii and other states. Of course this doesn't do anything to affect the trade deficit.

*NEW EDIT*
Also, don't beconfused about the Japanese currency. 1 penny is around 1.18 yen. 118 yen is about a dollar and have about one and the same buying power depending upon where you are at surrounded by Japan.
So a typical office worker surrounded by Tokyo might make 1500 yen per hour if they are lucky. This is just about 12 dollars an hour which is not that far off of the standard of New York City. That same organization worker will bring down about 200,000 yen per month. My point is, a yen is close to a penny, not a dollar.
The Japanese tend to earn a bit more money than in the US and one purpose is because the shareholders and the CEO's are less greedy.
One other grounds is than they have more cutomary finacial obligation like for example, if your unlucky and you take invited to a wedding, you will enjoy to shell out a MINIMUM of 30,000 yen, or 275 dollars.
A reasonably price kimono is 1000 dollars.
If you didn't spend 150 for respectively purse(handbag) in your collection, afterwards you must be poor.
See what I mean?
There are several factors involved, but the most esteemed are the amount of circulating currency vs the amount of gold within reserve and the amount of calculated counterfit currency in circulation.
hi bro, Japan is the world wealthiest nation and second largest discount after the USA. exchange of a nation can be either lower than fixed(set by govt./central bank) or flexible exchange rate(determined by demand and supply conditions contained by the forex market); as an economist, u don't look at nominal exchange rate but rather solid exchange rate so if u buy Japanese currency u will realize that u must pay more because transcription are thousands rather than every element

The Gold Standard was introduced by Great Britain surrounded by 1816 because of the conflict that was other occurring between the relative values of gold and silver, as commodities, and their merit as money. A gold strike would brand gold relatively smaller amount valuable within relation to silver, which meant that a gold ingots unit of good point would have to be distinct down in vocabulary of a silver unit of pro. Between 1670 and 1717, the British gold coin, the Guinea, bounced around between a efficacy of 20 shillings (in silver) and 30 shillings, as gold become relatively more valuable. It be settled at 21 shillings in 1717, which be slightly overvalued (against the advice of Issac Newton, Master of the Mint at the time, who said that it should be no more than 20 shillings and 8 pence). That drew gold ingots into England for the following century, as speculators sold gold here to obtain a greater profit within silver. The Gold Standard ended adjectives those kinds of problems, although it did consequently limit the rate at which the money supply could grow intrinsically.
The value of currency is determined by supply and constraint of the currency through out the world. It is also determined by the stringht (mean the buying power and stability) of the country.
Okay now for the unadulterated answer, there is a bunch of guys sitting surrounded by a basement of a builidng contained by Washington DC, with black arm band and green visors on. They sit an agrue constantly over the worth of the money and most of them do not like the yen.
The convenience of a currency is determined on the basis of some straightforward principiles of economics. THE CURRENCY IS ALSO TREATED LIKE ANY OTHER COMMODITY IN ECONOMICS , SO WHEN THE DEMAND OF THIS MONEY IS MORE IN THE INTERNATIONAL TERMS THAN THE VALUE GOES UP WHEN THEW DEMAND IS LESS INTERNATIONNALLY THEN THE VALUE GOES DOWN. FOR EXAMPLE THE VALUE OF USA DOLLAR IS HIGH BECAHUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND OF THE DOLLAR IN THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE.
THE COUNTRY RATING( aAA+ )THE COUNTRIES CURRENCY/GOLD RESERVES, THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND IN THE INTERBANK CURRENCY TRADING ARENA,FOREIGN DEBT,BALANCE OF PAYMENTS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THE PERCEPTION OF THE OTHER NATIONS.
THE YEN IS TRADED IN A HIGH DENOMINATION EVEN IF JAPAN IS PERCEIVED AS A SOLID ECONOMY. SO IS TRUE IN THE CASE OF THE CHILEAN PESO.
you must start off your thinking by not looking at respectively individual unit of curreny, ie the yen or the peso, surrounded by order to see a countries relative strengeth. Japan would issue abundant more yen that the us would issue dollars. Imagine you had a five gallon bucket and that be representative of the USA's economt, and let's say Japans cutback was duplicate as the US's (5 gallons). Let's also assume that the dollar was represented by softballs and the yen by marbles. Even though the ecobnomies are one and the same size it would take several more marbles (Yen) to fill the bucket than softballs (dollars). As for the efficacy of each section relative to other currencies, the two main factor as always are supply and constraint. But supply and demand of what? Factors would include debt securities of the home political affairs, good and services, costs of labor, stability of the country. It's complicated but I hoe this sheds some oil lamp.

this is a slayer Question
It used to be determined by the gold that a unusual country had contained by its reserves. When gold be the standard. Now there are several factors that determine the valuation of currency. National debt self one of these factors among others, the inclination of other countries to purchase other national currency for trade purposes are but of few of the factors within the valuation process. The answer is not as simple as the question. You would entail a degree within World Economics and Mysticism to real take down to the real issues that drive the valuation of currencies issue.
