My boyfriend and I are planning to start a dj business for weddings, what is the first item we should do?
We have some equipment, both of us love music, but are not sure how to start. He have more experience working with a dj company owned by someone else.We are devoted, but we know we need finances for the scheme to kick stale. any advice?

1. form an LLC beforehand ANYTHING else.
2. get a business license for your state so you can charge sale tax. AND of you are going to be selling anything you can return with it tax exempt. take a photo copy at all times, you never know when you might want it.

4. buy, look at, and get contracts that other DJ's use and be paid one up. Make SURE you put in a clause that if a marriage is canceled that your company retains $X.XX as compensation for lost income.
5. NEVER use your home phone.
6. get a DBA checking explanation at a bank. NEVER use your personal portrayal.
