How to transfer funds to hsbc mexico bank from washington mutual bank in california?
Answers: above poster was right, but misread the op, op wanted to wire money from california to mexico.
basically you go to washington mutual, tell them you want to do a wire transfer, then you give them the bank's routing number, and your account number at hsbc mexico bank. and then the fee for the wire transfer will be deducted, domestic wire transfers (via fedwire) is around $25, international they usually double the charge $50. international wire transfers are processed and settled within 3 days.
in the usa, wire transfers are using FedWire. fedwire is a time critical transaction, bank A sends money to a federal reserve bank, and the fed reserve sends money to bank B.
for international wire transfers, banks will usually use the swift system.

each bank has a unique bank identifying code (BIC) code. hsbc mexico's swift code is BIMEMXMM (BIME because hsbc mexico used to be banco bital). and the banks will communicate the specifics of the wire transfer.
in some circumstances, the bank may use an intermediary like wells fargo to actually process the international wire transfer. i hrd washington mutual will do it that way (see link below for story).
while swift is secure, but because no escrow is involved like how it is required under fedwire, things can sometimes become hairy like your money disappearing.

You would have to either contact or go to the HSBC mexico bank and have them wire the money into the Washington Mutual Bank- there would be a wire origination fee and wire receipt fee as well. Basically, you'd tell HSBC Mexico you want to initiate an outgoing wire.
