Personal Finance Questions and Answers

If I am a young investor hoping to save $ for college and beyond, what is the best type of investment for me?

Answers: Clark Howard (who has a daily radio show about how to save money and spend less) would say to get Student Loans because the money you save now and invest elsewhere will benefit you more long-term than if you spend it all on the cost of College.

My first suggestion would be for you to start a ROTH IRA account and get your retirement started way early. The most you can put in is 4000.00/Year and I think it may go up to $5000.00/Year. It's after tax, which means tax free when you take it out at retirement(Much better than Traditional IRA) and what YOU put in(not interest earned) I believe can be taken out at any time without penalty since it's put in tax free.

Below is a great site to browse.
The general rule is do not do anything risky with short term money. Saving for college sounds short term, so I think you should be conservative, and save in a money market fund or a certificate of deposit. You will not get huge returns, but your education money will be safe.
Your education will actually be your best investment. After you graduate and get a good job, start investing long term. Then you can invest in stocks or stock mutual funds. They always have a risk of going down (like they did today), but will probably do better than anything else long term.

Answers: Do you hold any friendly neighbors? Ask them, the more the better, if they have any peculiar jobs you could do. If you are drastically trustworthy, and the neighbors know it, maybe you can travel to the store for them for their groceries, sweep their steps, mow the lawn, shovel snow, verbs out their attic or basement. You would be surprized how much comfort you can be to elderly people. Or you can wander someones dog, move furniture, carry boxes up to the attic, down to the crypt, wash a coup¨¦. There are a lot of things you can do to trademark money, things that maybe an elderly individual is unable to do. Just ask! Good Luck!
