if you were on time with your mortgage maybe, but if you had a short sale most likely you were not making payments on time and were 90+ days late, so you should get a 1099 for the difference between what you owe the bank and what the house sold for, and yes the IRS will be happy to collect taxes on the forgiven amount, GOD BLESS AMERICA

I have a 2 year contract beside my tanning salon At The Beach & payments are drafted out of my checking account. My checking vindication was closed for man in the gloomy so when they tried to take out the money for the month it be returned due to insuffecient funds. So what happens to my tanning contract? Is this approaching writing a hot check & can I get contained by trouble for it?Answers: They can charge you for nsf but probably won't cancel your contract they may call a halt you and take you to court and they will win every time.
