I enjoy been beside TSB, NatWest, Lloyds and Abbey National in the recent past.
Since 1995 I have be with Nationwide. I enjoy a mortgage, savings and current statement and when I travel I use my cards to withdraw change in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore as I necessitate it.
Nationwide are brilliant. They don't charge me for withdrawing cash out of the country and the exchange rate is about one and the same or better than you can get anywhere else.
I one-sidedly wouldn't recommend Abbey- I went 6 pence oer drawn and they charged me lb30.
My boyfriend have also had trouble next to Lloyd's TSB sometimes they take money out of his information and put it back a week subsequently.
My Dad is with HSBC and have never had a problem.

Abbey - absolutely dreadful - don't touch next to a barge pole! Customer service is very poor as shown on Watchdog on BBC1!!
I've be banking near Lloyds TSb now for almost 18 months - not one problem, easy to use internet bank and english people on the other pause of the phone - which is always a plus when curious anything about the depiction!!
So I'd strongly recommend Lloyds!!

Answers: sell stuff on eBay! (or buy it consequently sell it for higher) it'd steal some time to watch and see what things are averagedly priced at but it works.
