I owe in the region of $1750 within medical bills and 18500 to a hospital I am not paying it how will it affect me.?

if you were an iffy immigrant you would not have to earnings the taxpayers would...but what you can do to save your credit is earnings them $5 -$10 per month on each bill or you can contact the billing department and make clear to them you cannot pay and in that is a program for indigent that you may qualify for.
to add: it can adversely affect your credit report and they can sue you to go and get the money and remember they have bill collectors and attorneys that hold far more time and money than you do.

It will affect it badly. They won't own to sue you, they'll take your weekly paycheck. My suggestion is to send them respectively $100 a week. Tell them you absolutely can not do any better than that. They can't transport you to collections if you are sending money.
