I really want to pay off a large loan this year, can you give me any good money saving tips?
Answers: Budgeting is the only way to go. You need to keep track of every penny you spend.
If you are good at excel and have extra time, you can use excel to track of everything.
If not, www.youneedabudget.com has some really good software for $40. Or you can buy and already templated spreadsheet for $20. I've tried just about every budget software out there and it's either custom excel or this program.
In addition, there are tons of forums about penny pinching out there. There are dumpster diving forums, coupon forums, tricks forums. You can really live for a fraction of what you are now. Just start searching "frugal living" in yahoo or G00GLE and sit back and enjoy.
I stongly urge you to check out this website its great
www.moneyexpert.com.
Dont know if you do the food shopping in your house hold but changing to a cheaper supermarket or buying the cheaper brands will save you quite a bit.
No chip and pinning always draw out the money you need I find it really really hard to keep track of my money since I have been able to chip and pin I am constantly going over drawn.
I find every month there is something to spend money on birthdays, mothers day, fathers day, car tax etc etc try to cut down on present buying maybe make you own.
Oh and buy all your clothes from Primark saves you loads!
Good luck my loan finishes next month cant wait so you do get in there in the end!
Call the bank and open a second account to use for bills. Have all your direct debits and standing orders coming from that account and put enough money in to cover them when you get paid. In your other account put your 'spending money'. when the month starts put say 10% of this into an instant access savings account so you can access it in an emergency. Then keep track of what you're spending!
Use cheaper shops (Iceland is fab...i spent £15 in there and it lasted for ages) if you're planning a night out have friends over for a few drinks first then drink water when you go out (or better still stay in with friends).
If you drive then plan ahead, think when you'll be driving past the cheapest petrol station and fill up there, if you keep the revs down your fuel will last you longer. You could use tescos petrol with a clubcard - when you get vouchers through each quarter you can swap them for restaurant vouchers at four times the value - £2.50 clubcard vouchers = £10 to spend at the restaurant. and you can use them for lots of other stuff so you can do fun things really cheaply.
Take lunch to work/college, don't buy it. Cut back on your mobile phone, switch to the lower tarrif or to pay as you go.
try to avoid waste. I always end up throwing away the second half of a loaf of bread because it's stale before i get round to eating it so you could freeze it in batches to prevent waste.
Try putting a post-it in your purse/wallet reminding you that you want to pay off this loan so your conscience is jolted before you make a purchase.
Thats all I can think of...I'm in the same boat saving for my wedding :-)
i had a massive amount of debt to pay of so i moved back in with my parents stayed in lots and only let myself go out in town occasionly and didnt take my bank card with me. it was very hard but after a year i payed it all of. i wish you luck.
rather than paying the loan of bit bye bit i saved up a large amount then called them and offerd them a settlement and after some haggleing they accepted and the debt was cleared.
Money during recession or depression?
my question is: is at hand any chance our money that are contained by the banks within CD's or monet market accounts to be lost ineradicably during a bad recession time or even worst depression or there is no method for that to happen,or should I lug all my money from my hill before thay crop up,not that I have profoundly of money in my edge, but I want to save my natural life earnings and not lose tham within somo stupid recession?Answers: It would be highly unlikely that you would loose anything within a savings information or CD's, because they are generally FDIC insured up to the first $100K. Money market aren't FDIC insured, but they are a very support investment. There is really no need to verbs about these stash plans. If we thought the US was on the brink of collapse, next you might be concerned about these issues. Even next to a recession and a burgeoning debt, the US is no where hard by collapse.
The recession definitely will hit corporate stocks and yield. So if you have hoard locked up with the broad flea market, then you will credible see some devaluation. A true long-term investor will just hang around these periods out though.
There will be a downturn surrounded by the stock market permanent until mid 2010. Wall Street is not the place to put your money right now. Keep doing what your doing.
