1) An investor expects the expediency of a $1,000 investment to double within 8 years. What is the expected annual rate of growth contained by the investment?

2) A firm has a total debt of $600,000 and equity of $400,000. What is the debt/net worth ratio and the debt-to-total assets ratio for the firm?

3) What is the adjectives value of a $10,000 investment after 18 years, if the annual rate of interest is 8 percent?

Thanks.

Answers: You can do adjectives these questions next to a financial calculator if you have one. For the 1st one you simple enter $2000 as the fv (future value) and 1000 as a present appeal and 8 years as N, and then compute for I/Y (interest/yield). For the 2nd one you of late divide them. Third question you set 10,000 as the Future effectiveness and 18 years as N and I/Y as 8% then compute pv (present value)
1. 2000=1000 x (1+R)^8
=ie., 9.051%
FV = PV x (1+R) ^ N
where on earth FV = Future Value, PV = Present Value, R=Rate of Interest and N= No. of years.

2. Debt / Networth Ratio = 600000 / 400000 = 3:2
Debt / Total Assets = 600000 / 1000000 = 3:5
It is assumed that the total assets of the firm equals its debt + equity only and no other liability.

3.As within the first formula: FV = PV x (1+R)^N
FV = 10000 * (1+8%) ^ 18
= 39960 (Rounded)
1) 1000 doubled = 2000
therefore 2000 divided by 8=250
work this into a percentage
250/2000 x 100 =12,50%

3) 10 000 x 8/100 = 800
x 18
14400
