Student Loan Garnishment?
I co-signed a student laon for my ex (we were married at the time - lots years ago). Now they are threatening to garnish my paycheck to salary his loan. Is there a passageway to FORCE the collection agent to go after him?Answers: Tell them where on earth he works, so they can garnish his check.
If they don't know where on earth he is, then you recitation them how to reach him would be dutiful to them. But the chances are they've already gone after him and can't catch anything out of him, so they are coming after you. And it is legal because your heading is listed on the loan, unless you enjoy it written in your divorce bill that you are not responsible for his personal debts.
Get yourself a lawyer to assist you with this.
No. If they are coming after you they enjoy already decided that he is a deadbeat and uncollectible.
Regretfully, abundant divorcees find out the hard agency that once a joint debt is made, any party can be made to pay envelope.
Depending on your divorce decree you may know how to sue him, but my gut says you will enjoy less luck than the loan company did.
Call them and set up a transmittal plan, or put on a credit card/personal loan. This isn't going away and it is really hard to live on what is disappeared after wages are garnished.
Then sue his butt.
Sorry something like your situation.
**edit**
One of the above answerers stated that if your divorce decree say he pays then you are rotten the hook. NOT TRUE. The courts have ruled that the debt must supercedes divorce decree. I have an employee whose divorce papers stated the debt be split, she paid her partially (over $25,000) he paid NOTHING. They come after her and she ended up paying his partly too. Divorce papers mean nil to a creditor.
What is the age rein in on dependent children stimulus bag Check?
All I have read is that the $300.00 per child is for "Dependent Child"?? I know second time they had to be lower than 18 year old.Answers: The age mark out will be 17.
House: "Anyone qualifying for any benefit would also receive $300 per dependent child up to age 17, with no panama on the number of children who qualify."
Senate: "A bonus of $300 will be provided for each child lower than age 17, with no trilby on the number of children who are eligible."
The law hasn't be finalized yet, but it seem both the House & Senate want to cap the age at 17.
