Why do people borrow money on credit cards, when it's so expensive?
Answers: Sometimes it's the only way to get credit especially in times of desperation like fuel for car when attending hospital, buying clothes for a wedding or funeral, toys for children at Christmas and other similar things that happen in life. You need money instantly, not wait days for an answer of a loan etc.

People have never realized how expensive Credit Card Loans are. Plus they have never learned how to save.
I wish High Schools would include a mini-course on Credit and Finance for the Seniors to teach them how to handle Money.
There are many reasons.
First, you always plan to pay everything off at the end of the month and at the end of the month you can't afford it.
Emergencies come up.
People lose their jobs and use their credit cards to survive.
Many people are compulsive and spend every penny they can.
The credit card companies are stupid and give way too much credit to people who shouldn't have it.
Many times, the credit card companies will give you a very low rate of interest. Sometimes, they charge no interest. But as soon as anything happens, (one late payment, going over your limit, etc.) the low interest rate goes to the moon.

For a number of reasons, I'm sure. Some out of necessity, and some out of stupidity.
We can't do a lot about the necessity, but we can control the stupid things. Plan ahead and save for that rainy day. Live within your means, is a start. Make and stick to a budget. It will be hard to start, but as you start getting ahead of the game, then it gets easier. Especially when you stop paying all the high interest on the cards.
